😂 Ever feel like you’re trying to convince someone to do something they absolutely refuse to do? This video reminded us of one of the biggest challenges in rodent control: rats are naturally suspicious of anything new.
Rats are what pest professionals call neophobic, meaning they have a fear of new objects, foods, and changes in their environment. That’s why simply placing a trap in a rodent-infested area doesn’t always lead to immediate results. In fact, rats may avoid a new trap for days or even weeks while they investigate it from a safe distance.
One of the most important skills in professional rodent control is overcoming trap shyness and rodent neophobia. We use strategic placement, pre-baiting techniques, environmental modifications, and a thorough understanding of rodent behavior to earn their trust (or at least lower their guard 😏).
Effective rodent control isn’t just about setting traps—it’s about understanding how rodents think and behave.
If you’re hearing scratching in the attic, finding droppings, or seeing signs of rodent activity, give us a call. We’ll put our knowledge of rodent behavior to work for you.
