Prayer for Our Active-Duty Service Members
Heavenly Father,
Today we lift up every man and woman serving on active duty, at home and across the world.
Lord, place Your hand of protection over them. Guard them in the air, on the land, and upon the sea. Watch over those standing watch tonight, those deployed far from home, those training for what may come, and those carrying responsibilities few others will ever fully understand.
Give them strength when they are weary, courage when they are afraid, wisdom when decisions must be made, and peace when their hearts are troubled.
Father, surround them with good people. Give their leaders wisdom and integrity. Keep their units united, disciplined, and watchful. Protect them from danger seen and unseen, and guide their steps wherever duty calls.
We also pray for the families waiting at home—the husbands, wives, children, parents, brothers, sisters, and friends who carry the burden of separation. Comfort them and remind them that distance cannot separate a family joined together in love and prayer.
For those entering harm’s way, go before them.
For those standing guard, stand beside them.
For those who are exhausted, renew them.
For those who are afraid, strengthen them.
For those who feel alone, remind them that You are near.
And for those returning home, bring them safely into the arms of those who love them.
Your Word says:
“The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.” — Psalm 121:8 (KJV)
Lord, we thank You for those willing to sacrifice their comfort, their time, and sometimes their safety in service to others. May we never take that sacrifice for granted.
Let Your protection cover our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, Guardians, and Coast Guardsmen. Give them courage without fear, strength without hardness of heart, and the wisdom to recognize when You are guiding their path.
May the Lord watch between those serving and the families waiting for them until they are safely together again.
We place them into Your hands, Lord.
In Jesus Christ’s mighty name,
Amen.
