Sub-zero temperatures have us reminiscing on warm weather and more of our favorite projects! Swipe on through to see the full transformation, a fresh layer of mulch, new bed lines and some decorative boulders can really make your home pop!
Quick Tips! Weeds can be a pain to get rid of and keep away, and w**d barrier landscape fabric can help with the issue, but there are some things to know before moving forward!
There are several tiers of landscape fabric, ordered from lowest to highest rated; Basic, Standard, Eco, Advanced, Premium, Geotextile/DuraWeave, and Hardscape(PermaWeave)
Our biggest differences between the tiers are w**d control, plant health, and permeability.
The lower tiered fabrics (Basic and Standard) are typically meant for your garden bed needs, to help keep the w**ds away from your growing fruits and vegetables. They’re a stretchier thin fabric that tends to last one season or so.
The next tier (Eco and Standard) are good for your small flower bed needs. Both will allow a fair amount of water and nutrients to flow through, while doing a fairly decent job at keeping your w**ds at bay for a good couple seasons!
Next, the tier that we recommend and use on 95% of our projects regardless of flower bed size is Premium and GeoTextile/DuraWeave(What we used on this project!). This tier allows the most sunlight, water, and nutrients to seep through in order to provide the highest quality of life for your plants, as well as being solid enough to keep the w**ds at bay for seasons to come.
Hardscape/Permaweave is strictly for your hardscape projects like retaining walls, pouring concrete, paver patios, etc. This fabric will keep w**ds at bay while also blocking out sun to prevent any plant growth.
One last note! When installing, be sure to overlap each layer by 4-6” while staking in 6” metal pins every 6-12” to ensure the fabric stays where installed when adding mulch or stone on top, as well as keeping the w**ds from sneaking through any un-overlapped gaps!
