We are Obsidian Ridge Contractors Idaho and we love to give back to our wonderful Treasure Valley!

Times are hard right now and everything costs more than it should! I see it a lot everywhere we go and thought - maybe we can help a little!

We’ve been blessed, so we’re looking for a few people in our community who need real help around their home but can’t currently afford a contractor.

We are a licensed and insured general contracting company with an in-house team of professional, top-tier craftsmen and tradesmen. We’re offering to take on a small number of projects at no cost over the coming weeks.

Why the Right Primer Matters More Than Most People Think

Not every surface is the same. Glossy wallpaper, previously painted walls, bare drywall, wood, metal — each one needs a primer that is specifically formulated for that substrate. Using the wrong product (or skipping primer altogether) is one of the fastest ways to end up with peeling, flashing, or adhesion failure months (or days!) down the road.

In this case, a high-performance, waterborne, urethane-modified acrylic primer is the correct choice because it is designed to bond to difficult, non-porous surfaces like glossed wallpaper with minimal sanding/prep. Sometimes one coat is enough. Other times we need a second coat, or we tint the primer to help with coverage and color uniformity - it depends on the condition of the surface and the finish paint being used.

This is the kind of detail that separates a lasting job from a redo. At Obsidian Ridge Contractors we don’t guess. We match the primer to the substrate so the finish coat performs the way it should.

Is your wood fence quietly falling apart?

A lot of wood fences across the Treasure Valley never get sealed - including brand-new ones!

That factory-applied coating on new lumber? It does not protect the fence once it’s installed. It only protects the wood while it’s sitting at the lumber yard waiting to be sold to you. Once your fence is up and facing Idaho weather, that temporary coating is finished.
