With all this rainwater, we don't need to start watering our lawn anytime soon.
PRESS RELEASE // City of Nampa Customers Can Expect Irrigation Water by Early May
Irrigation districts will begin releasing water into the canals early to mid-April and City of Nampa irrigation customers can expect to access full pressure for this service by early May.
While subject to change, the City of Nampa anticipates receiving irrigation water from Nampa-Meridian Irrigation District by mid-to-late April, from Pioneer Irrigation District on April 15, and it is currently unknown when we will receive irrigation water from the Boise-Kuna Irrigation District.
After irrigation water is released, crews test the lines, flush the system and bring ditch pumps online. Crews will work to ensure the irrigation water lines are functioning properly and may need to temporarily shut down an irrigation line for repair. These temporary shutdowns are occasionally needed to bring the system to full operation. They are a normal part of the annual process.
As city staff work to bring the city irrigation system online, customers may have intermittent access to irrigation water. Full pressure and consistent irrigation water delivery to city customers is not expected until early May.
The length of the irrigation season is dependent on water availability in our shared canal and reservoir systems. Irrigation water is a necessary and critical resource to farmers, homeowners and businesses in our community.
REMINDERS FOR IRRIGATION CUSTOMERS:
Nampa residents are asked to check the programming of their sprinkler control box to ensure they are not over-watering.
If customers notice a leak, they are encouraged to call the 24-hour hotline at 208-468-5860. Due to the volume of calls, it may be necessary to leave a voice message. We appreciate your patience as staff return calls as soon as possible.
Customers requiring assistance setting a sprinkler control box are encouraged to contact a local landscaping professional.
Residents are also strongly encouraged to install their own shut off valve to control sprinkler lines and are asked not to operate the city valve, as this is for emergency use only.
Do not use potable (house) water to irrigate your lawn as it will increase the water and sewer charges to your utility bill. Adjustments are not provided if domestic water is used to irrigate. Additional information is available in Nampa City Code 8-1-22.
