It’s New Year’s Eve and we’ve been thinking about what to post for days. So we decided to recount this year. We experienced several deaths of extended family, the death of a brother-in-law younger than ourselves due to a heart attack, and the death of a 16 year old daughter of a childhood friend to a car accident. We were not immune to Covid 19 either; Dennis and our son, Nate, contracted it in July. I was a probable case. But there were some good times too.
We spent almost every weekend this summer in Donnelly, ID enjoying the wilderness, nature and each other’s company. We were able to keep working during the shutdowns, qualified for the Rebound Idaho Grant and received the 2 stimulus checks. We celebrated many birthdays, a couple of anniversaries, and Dennis earning his Class A CDL with no restrictions!
I was reading through Selah Pause and Consider Daily Devotional by Lois M. Tupyi this year and yesterday’s devotional was exactly what I wanted to share with you. Lois was recounting a memory of mountain hikes as a young girl. Her family would set out to conquer some large hill sure that once they reached the top of the summit they would be on the top of the world. But each time they reached the top there were other hills or mountains before them. She wrote, “Wherever you are in your journey, keep looking up and moving forward. There’s something new and exciting at the top of your hill. You’re not there yet but the walk is invigorating and exciting. You don’t need to go alone---Jesus is with you each step of the way.” We pray that you will keep that thought with you throughout this coming year. Happy New Year!
