Another successful sprinkler-to-drip conversion completed today.

This flower bed had a spray head soaking the shrubs and oversaturating the area, creating heavy moss growth throughout the bed and even onto the surrounding stone walkway.

Instead of continuing to waste water, we converted the zone to drip irrigation, cleaned out the accumulated moss, cleaned the walkway, and installed individual emitters to provide slow, efficient watering directly to each shrub’s root zone.

Drip irrigation isn’t just about saving water, it also helps reduce runoff, discourages moss growth, keeps foliage drier, and delivers water where the plants actually need it.

Every landscape is a little different, and this one required some creativity due to the existing irrigation layout, but I’m really happy with how it turned out.

If you have sprinkler heads watering shrub beds, it may be time to consider converting them to drip.

I’ve noticed quite a few lawns around Browns Valley looking pretty rough lately, especially after a few years of wear and inconsistent watering.

One thing I see homeowners struggle with is knowing when a lawn can be brought back with seed and fertilizer versus when it’s time for a complete reset.

In my experience, the condition of the soil underneath is usually more important than the grass itself. Healthy soil and proper watering solve a lot of lawn problems.
