One of the more exotic-looking hibiscus that does very well here in SW Florida is the âRed Poodleâ, named for the poodle-like tail that emerges from the main flower. These are fairly large blooms, and are a bright cherry red except for some pale blonde striping at the tops of the petals. There is also a peach variety that has the same flower. These can be found at some nurseries and occasionally at the box stores (if youâre lucky enough to find one) and they do well either in the ground or in a container. Iâve had one in a pot for a long time and it blooms like crazy this time of year. These are also fairly easy to keep small, as you can cut the branches back once they bloom out.
