Earthcare’s Irrigation Department is installing custom informational stickers inside the irrigation timer boxes of every customer whose irrigation system we maintain.

Each sticker identifies the location of the property’s irrigation zones, giving both our team and the customer a quick, clear reference when service is needed. This is especially helpful during storm preparation and remediation, as well as routine maintenance, repairs, and system adjustments.

By having this information readily available at the timer box, our technicians can work more efficiently and respond with greater accuracy—helping us better protect and maintain your landscape year-round.

TREE CARE SERVICES: When Termite Damage Turns into a Hazard

When termites infest palm trees or hardwoods, they may weaken the tree from the inside out—sometimes leaving little visible warning until the tree begins to split, lean, or fail altogether.

Before & After

Shortly after the New Year, this customer in Olde Naples turned to Earthcare with a clear vision: to refresh and clean up their property. Our team has been proud to help bring that vision to life through consistent, detail-oriented landscape care that enhances the property’s overall appearance and keeps it looking polished throughout the season.

Before: This area of the property had a strong tropical foundation, with mature palms, established hedging, and plenty of natural privacy. However, the dense growth and lack of definition left an opportunity to open up the landscape, refine its shape, and create a cleaner, more intentional appearance.

During: During the cleanup process, Earthcare’s crew began opening up the overgrown landscape by removing dense, unwanted plant material and clearing the area around the existing palms. This stage of the project focused on creating a clean foundation, improving access, and preparing the space for a more refined, intentional landscape design.

After: The finished landscape now has a clean, polished, and intentional appearance. A row of neatly shaped trees creates structure, privacy, and visual height, while fresh low plantings soften the base of the bed. FEATURED FLORIDA FOLIAGE: Queen Palms, Is Your Tree Ready?

Queen palms are one of the most popular landscape trees in Southwest Florida, prized for their graceful appearance and tropical beauty. However, they are also one of the palm species most vulnerable to failure during hurricanes and tropical storms.

Unlike many native palms, queen palms have a shallower root system and are more susceptible to toppling when strong winds combine with saturated soil. They can also develop hidden issues such as trunk decay, nutrient deficiencies, or disease that weaken the tree over time. From the outside, a queen palm may appear healthy—until severe weather reveals otherwise.

BOLO: Slugs & Snails🐌

Summer rain creates ideal conditions for snails and slugs across Southwest Florida. Warm temperatures, high humidity, and consistently damp landscape beds can lead to increased activity—especially in shaded areas, mulch, leaf litter, dense groundcover, and around low-growing plant material.

Two common pests homeowners may notice are the Florida leatherleaf slug and the Cuban brown snail. Both are most active in the evening, overnight, and after rainfall, often hiding during the day in cool, moist areas of the landscape.

The Florida leatherleaf slug is a shell-less, moisture-loving slug that may feed on tender new growth, seasonal annuals, and low-growing ornamental plants.

The Cuban brown snail is a nonnative snail with a brown, rounded shell that can also feed on a variety of landscape plants. Signs of activity may include irregular holes or ragged edges on leaves, damaged tender growth, and silvery trails left behind on foliage, hardscapes, or mulch.

While these pests are not typically a major threat to established turf, they can affect the appearance and health of seasonal color and ornamental plantings when populations become active. Keeping planting beds tidy, removing excess leaf litter, managing mulch appropriately, and reducing unnecessary moisture where possible can help limit the sheltered areas they prefer.
