⚠️ Hurricane season is here, and your shutter locks deserve a second look! Most Naples homeowners do a great job getting their shutters up before a storm. What often gets overlooked is the lock cylinder on the shutter itself: the small but critical piece that actually secures the panel in place and lets you get back inside afterward. SCAMMER BUSTED! Inside Edition sent several locksmiths to the same house. Some were trained professionals who picked the lock without causing any damage. One was from KeyMe, and they drilled straight through the smart lock.

KeyMe has kiosks at your local Publix, Walmart, and other Naples stores, and they market themselves as a full-service locksmith too. But destroying a lock that didn’t need to be drilled is a scam and it’s a bill you shouldn’t have to pay.

We’ve been doing this since 1973. A trained technician doesn’t reach for the drill first. They read the lock, they work the lock, and they pick it open using skill and ingenuity. 🚨 $650 for a lockout?! In Southwest Florida, this is happening more than people realize and we've seen bills well over $1,000 from local scammers.

A local senior in Estero was charged hundreds for unskilled and destructive locksmith work. No warning. No transparency. Just a stressful situation made worse and she was left with a broken lock in the end. There are very few cases where a lock must be drilled to open it, a skilled locksmith can pick the lock open in a non-destructive fashion in a few minutes.

This is exactly how scam operators work:
• Bait-and-switch pricing or no estimate "without seeing the lock"
• Out-of-area “techs” or subcontractors who aren't trained
