The Art Behind the Finish 🏗️🎨🐚

Not all stucco finishes are created equal. While some finishes can be applied relatively quickly, others require an incredible amount of patience, precision, and craftsmanship to execute properly.

One of those finishes is Tabby Shell Stucco. This distinctive finish incorporates crushed shell into the stucco, creating a rich texture and timeless coastal aesthetic that has been used for generations throughout Florida and the Southeast. But achieving the finished look isn’t as simple as applying material to a wall.

Each section requires careful placement, attention to detail, and skilled hands to ensure the shells are distributed consistently while maintaining the intended texture and appearance. The process is labor-intensive, and the difference between an average finish and an exceptional one comes down to the experience and dedication of the craftsmen installing it.

Recently, our estimators, project managers, executive team, and President John Ford walked the Harry Chapin Food Bank project to gain a firsthand look at the work in progress. 🏗️👷

After walking one of our residential projects on Captiva Island, we continued the conversation by visiting a commercial project as well. While the project types are very different, the objective remains the same.

Field walks like these help connect our preconstruction, operations, and field teams while providing valuable insight into project logistics, sequencing, coordination, and the real-world conditions that influence both estimating and ex*****on. 📋🤝

Ford Drywall & Stucco recently had the privilege of partnering with Junior Achievement at the Tri County Trade Center, where our President, John Ford, spoke with students about the many opportunities available in the construction industry.

From apprenticeship programs and hands on training to leadership, entrepreneurship, and career growth, the conversation highlighted the countless paths available within the skilled trades. 💡🔨

The students asked thoughtful questions, showed genuine curiosity, and demonstrated the kind of ambition that gives us confidence in the future of our industry. 👏🎓
