We aren’t really known as the “philosophical types” here at DCW, but through the creation of this beautiful piece, we have developed a firm understanding of what it means to be both “talented” and “skilled” in our custom woodworking craftsmanship. It was both an honor and a privilege to hand-design this piece for the lobby of the new Gulfshore Playhouse at the entrance to downtown Naples. The award-winning LORT Regional Theatre is now a landmark in our community and we are proud to have a place in its history!

As we all try to get through this together, here are our recommendations:
1. Always ensure you are hiring a LICENSED (in your county and for the right specialty of work!) and lINSURED contractor. Your contractor should be able to show you their license and provide you with a COI.
2. Ask people you trust for personal recommendations.
3. Be patient (please). Many contractors are reeling from losses themselves and/or are working around the clock to help everyone. There will undoubtedly be supply chain issues after we just started to bounce back from the same problem during the pandemic.
4. The devastation is widespread through Collier and Lee Counties and it will take some time to get jobs completed. Set realistic timelines for your demo/repair/rebuild projects. We will get there together, in time.

A simple reminder that when we work together, we can overcome anything. We have been busy helping family, friends, neighbors with remediation and repairs, assessing property damage and fielding calls from concerned clients. Our shop is now fully powered and phone service seems to be improving. SWFL will recover, one home and business at a time. We are proud to be of service to this strong and resilient community.

If you’ve never tried to get lacquer to dry perfectly in 100 degree weather with 70% humidity, you haven’t lived! A little blood, gallons of sweat, and even a few tears went into this gray and white, solid maple custom build…12 beautiful feet long at the base. Thanks to our patient clients in Bonita Bay who understood the need for perfection.

Welcome to DCW! When you walk through the door (whether we designed and made it or not) and into one of our projects you'll be greeted with more than 30 years' experience in the woodworking field.

Doug Dye began his career in Indiana and then worked with Don Ewy Construction in Naples, FL for 20 years. DCW specializes in custom cabinetry and some of our favorite projects involve custom design where we can hone both creativity and artistic talent. Doug has extensive experience in residential woodworking, construction and cabinetry during his time with Don Ewy Construction.

Doug has also led major commercial projects in the Miami area, including the Bal Harbour Oceana resort-style residential complex, the Oceana complex in Key Biscayne, and has created many stunning wood designs for various residential communities and restaurants throughout Naples, FL.
