The commercial real estate scene is constantly changing, and MJM is prepared to go wherever our partnerships take us. While it may not always be the most glamourous part of a project, surveying existing buildings is critical to confirm existing building systems, check compliance with accessibility and building codes, and ensure that what we design can actually be built!

While every remodel can have its share of unforeseen issues, performing on-site surveys is an effective way to identify and avoid possible conflicts before construction even starts.

Check out some photos on site at one of our upcoming commercial retail projects in the Little Rock area. While we won't give away too many details on this project (yet!), our team is always committed to delivering the highest quality of services to our partners in every phase of the project.

This week, members from MJM presented for local high school students in the ACE Mentor Program at Smith Seckman Reid's Nashville office! In addition to giving an introduction to the field of architecture and how one would become an architect, mentors assisted in a bridge building competition. Students were tasked with building a bridge with popsicle sticks and testing how much weight the bridge could hold.

The ACE Mentor Program of Nashville, Tennessee introduces high school students to exciting careers in the architectural, construction management, and engineering professions. Since its founding in 2002, over $1,000,000 in scholarship funds have been awarded to Middle Tennessee students and ACE Alumni.

MJM is dedicated to helping our community and getting involved however we can to make a difference. Big thanks to ACE Mentor Program and SSR for putting on this event!

Last Friday, MJM teamed up with Entech Engineering to host a joint team-building event at Nashville Topgolf! Employees from MJM and Entech alike enjoyed a well-deserved afternoon out of the office, building connections with fellow coworkers and showing off our backswings. With team building activities like Tower Building, Fun Fact Bingo, and many rounds of golf, the day was full of laughs and learning.

After a decades-long history of working on projects together, MJM Architects acquired Entech Engineering at the beginning of 2025 to take the leap into becoming a full-service A/E firm. Since then, we've had the pleasure of working with our engineering team to deliver high-quality ASMPE services across the country, as one company, under one roof.

A BIG thanks to leadership at both firms for organizing this event!

Employee Spotlight: We're celebrating Adam Leicht for recently obtaining his CDT certification!

Offered as one of four certifications through the Construction Specifications Institute, the Construction Documents Technologist (CDT) certification "provides a comprehensive program of study for anyone seeking to enhance and demonstrate knowledge of writing, interpreting, enforcing and managing construction documents".

Adam joined MJM in 2024 as a Project Coordinator and has been a key player in many of our commercial retail projects. He currently works as one of our remote team members in the Atlanta Metro Area, and is working towards his initial licensure to further his career in architecture. Congrats to Adam and his success!

Congrats to our own Claude Schaller, AIA on becoming MJM's newest architect!

According to the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB)'s 2025 NCARB by the Numbers, only 3% of registered architects are under 30. Last week, Claude joined that 3%, earning his initial license at 25!

Claude's been with MJM since 2022 as a Project Coordinator, and has contributed to many of our commercial retail projects across the country. Join us in celebrating his accomplishment and future success!

MJM was on-site Monday to see the progress at our Cub Foods Redevelopment site in Burnsville, MN!

These two new-construction buildings are joining our Best Buy that had its grand opening earlier this year. Totaling 9,600 SF, both buildings are nearing the end of construction and are a stunning addition to the retail center. Huge shoutout to the entire team for partnering with us to deliver an amazing project!

MJM had a blast at the Golf for Kids' Sake event yesterday at Top Golf!

For the 4th year in a row, MJM Architects sent a team for an evening of golf to support fundraising for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle TN! We are happy to report that we smashed our goal and raised a total of $2,810 to support local mentorship programs!

Big thanks to everyone who donated to help us toward this goal!
