I just planted this garden with all of the summer produce… Can you still plant seeds on June 30th in Tennessee? Yep! At this point in the summer, we still have 31 days of hot July and 31 days of hot August, and another thirtyish days of pretty darn hot September. Crops like cucumber and yellow squash and beans can come in in 55-75 days, so why not plant a new round now?

Wayne’s garden, Greenbriar, TN. This garden was constructed for Wayne and Mary, who have been farming for decades, but need something more accessible these days. Mary has already planted her salad seed mix: a handful of Russian kale, butter crunch, and mustard greens. I love learning from both experienced and novice gardeners— we are an eager bunch!
