🎥 Top 5 Roof Maintenance Tips Every Homeowner Should Know

Want to extend the life of your roof in Middle Tennessee? Here are five simple but important tips:

1️⃣ Inspect pipe boots every 5 years. These rubber seals crack over time and are one of the most common causes of leaks.

2️⃣ Don’t ignore algae. If you see black streaks, have your roof professionally cleaned. Algae can shorten the life of your shingles and affect their integrity.

3️⃣ Clean your gutters once a year. Fall is best — after the leaves drop. Clogged gutters can cause water backup and roof edge damage.

4️⃣ Make sure you have metal drip edge installed. It protects the edges of your roof and helps direct water into the gutters properly.

5️⃣ Use ice and water shield in valleys and penetrations. If you’re installing a new roof, this is critical. In Middle TN, we also recommend upgrading by adding ice and water shield along the rakes and eaves for added protection.

A little maintenance now can prevent major repairs later.
