Daylighting + orientation, healthy workplace design, and community connection shaped our team’s approach to the new MNPD Southeast Precinct.

As MNPD’s first new police station in nearly a decade, the precinct serves as a new model for both the community and the police force. Designed to reflect a strong commitment to and connection with the neighborhoods it serves, the building creates a civic presence while supporting the wellness, comfort, and daily operations of the officers who work there.

Last month, we celebrated the groundbreaking of Evermere at Trinity, a new 233-unit, 100% affordable housing community by Dominium.

Located just minutes from East Nashville and downtown, the community offers convenient access to neighborhood shopping, dining and entertainment, as well as nearby transit connections for easy mobility throughout the city.

We’re proud to continue designing communities that expand access to affordable housing in Nashville.

Community engagement shaped the Dr. Ernest “Rip” Patton, Jr. North Nashville Transit Center from day one. Through surveys, events, and stakeholder meetings, nearly two years of input informed everything from free Wi-Fi and safe lighting to sustainability goals—and ultimately led to the project’s guiding theme, North Nashville’s Voices of the Past, Present, and Future. This direction guided design elements that honor the neighborhood’s history, celebrate current residents, and create space for future voices.

445 Park Commons is the largest privately developed mixed-income residential building in Nashville’s history—and a reflection of our multidisciplinary approach, where architecture, urban design, and interiors work together to shape connected and complete places.

Located next to Nashville’s MLS stadium, the project is part of a larger, walkable district that brings together housing, expo buildings, and an expanded Fair Park to better connect the site to the surrounding community.

Through a robust engagement process, our team helped rezone 10 acres of public land, secure approvals for three mixed-use blocks, and support one of Nashville’s first Community Benefits Agreements, guaranteeing affordable housing and small business incubator space.

83 Freight — the largest residential shipping container community in North America.

Located in Nashville’s Wedgewood Houston neighborhood, 173 containers are stacked, rotated, and offset to create 83 homes. With few precedents at this scale, the project pushes beyond conventional construction while embracing the raw materiality and history of each unit.

Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with a little extra green ☘️

Along the Nashville riverfront, Ascend Amphitheater and West Riverfront Park bring landscape, city, and community together – creating space to gather, connect, and experience the city.

As part of the project team, Smith Gee Studio led the preliminary architectural design and served as Architect of Record and Interior Designer for the 6,800-person amphitheater — the first outdoor amphitheater in the United States to achieve LEED Gold certification through the use of recycled materials, a green roof, solar panels, a 400,000-square-foot rain harvesting tank, and a geothermal mechanical system.
