Big things are happening beneath the surface at BNA.

As part of the Terminal Access Road Improvements project, our crew is installing 9 conduits through a 150-foot steel casing under Donelson Pike, underground electrical infrastructure that will help power Nashville’s growing airport. ✈️⚡

Proud of the team putting in the work to make BNA’s expansion possible.

Our Transportation & Infrastructure Service Team spent last Friday investing in two things: their commitment to Injury Free and each other. Trenching and Excavation Safety training in the morning, paintball outing in the afternoon.

We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the red team won. 😉

Good day for this crew. 💚

Tennessee decided to turn up the heat this June and we decided to turn up the Gatorade. 😂

The Stansell team took on the Hydration Challenge this National Safety Month and nobody walked away dry. Stay hydrated out there, folks. It's serious out here.

At Stansell, we talk a lot about building our community. Our CEO David Stansell takes that beyond the job site.

David is a licensed pilot and volunteers with Angel Flight, a nonprofit that coordinates free air transportation for patients who need to travel to reach specialists, surgeons, and medical care they couldn't otherwise access. On his own time, he flies strangers to appointments that could change or save their lives.

It's not something he talks about much. But it says something about the kind of person leading this company, and the kind of culture that starts at the top.

We're proud to follow his lead.

We recently added a rebar cage machine to our prefab shop, and it has already made an impact.

One of only two machines like it in the entire country, it loads straights by forklift, uses hydraulics to position bars for tying, and has taken cage tying from a 3 person job down to 2. We can now produce a significantly larger range of cages and tie multiple smaller ones at the same time.

More output, fewer people per cage, a capacity range we couldn't touch before, and no more loading rebar by hand. Faster, safer, and stronger.

This is what investing in our people and our resources looks like.

Week 3 of National Safety Month is about holistic worker health, and at Stansell, that is not a new conversation. Injury Free goes so much deeper than the job site.

Intentionally taking care of our people looks like this:
-A therapist on-site every Monday, free for any employee.
-Telehealth benefits that include mental health support.
-An Employee Resource Center that shows up for employees through the big stuff, not just the paperwork.
-Leaders who lead with empathy and actually know their people.
-Financial counseling and an Employee Stock Ownership Plan, because we invest in people for the long haul.
-Parental leave expanded for new parents and adoptive families, because when two employees walked into leadership with the idea, leadership said yes.
-Cold drinks and popsicles stocked in our warehouses, delivered to field crews by office teammates on hot days, because the people in the office don't forget the people in the field.

This is Injury Free beyond the hard hat. Physically, mentally, and emotionally, we are in it together.

Everyone should walk a construction jobsite at least once.

Our team out at Dry Creek is moving thousands of pounds of medium voltage cable through underground duct bank. In 90 degree heat, at a wastewater treatment plant, with every pull coordinated by hand. Few see this work but everyone depends on it.

This week, National Safety Month turns its focus to Staying Safe on the Roads. At Stansell, that's not just a theme. It's something our leaders are actively investing in.

Vice Presidents Matt Smith, Phillip Skipper, and Bobby Gaines had Samsara dash cams installed in their own vehicles before we began rolling them out across our fleet. These cameras provide real-time visibility into road safety, helping protect our drivers and the equipment they operate every day.

At Stansell, one of our core values is to invest in and use our resources wisely. We have an impressive fleet, and taking care of it starts with taking care of the people driving it. Going first wasn't required. They did it anyway.

Injury Free follows us everywhere, including the drive home.

Congratulations to the Stansell Electric apprenticeship class of 2026, the first class in our history to complete all four years of the program entirely in house.

These 6 men showed up for every hour of classroom training, every day of on-the-job experience, and every conversation about where they wanted to take their careers as journeyman electricians. Stansell invests in our apprentices financially and intentionally because growing our people is part of our purpose, and this class is proof of what that looks like when it comes full circle.

That milestone has their names on it. It also has Dana Morrow's.

In the later years of his career at Stansell, Dana poured himself into shaping this program, the structure, the standards, and the belief that investing in people is always worth it. We lost him last month, and we wish he could have been in that room.

Listen to Dana's 2020 conversation with UpRise Nashville about the apprenticeship program, the intentionality behind each apprentice's path and leadership development, and the way Stansell invests in the people who go through it. Watching this class, we know he would have been so proud.

Gatlinburg isn't your average job site, and our crew didn't treat it like one.

Thank you to the City of Gatlinburg for trusting us with your community and for taking the time to share this feedback. It means everything to the people who show up day and night to get the job done.
