Not every septic system is the same, and that’s why I continue putting time into system-specific training.

I completed the Infiltrator Water Technologies ATL System Training Program for Indiana. The training covers the design, installation, permitting, and inspection of ATL systems under Indiana requirements.

I don’t believe in guessing when it comes to something as important and expensive as a septic system. I want to understand the product, follow the correct process, and make sure the system is installed the way it was designed to be.

That’s the level of care I want customers to expect when they call Voils Concrete & Excavating.

During SepticSmart Week, I want to talk about why proper septic training matters to me.

I received this recognition from the Indiana Onsite Wastewater Professionals Association for demonstrating competency in Indiana’s residential sewage disposal requirements. That includes gravity-fed systems, subsurface drainage systems, and flood-dosed trench systems.

I’ve always believed that if you’re going to offer a service, you need to understand the standards behind it. Homeowners shouldn’t have to worry about whether their installer knows the rules or is figuring things out as they go.

With it being SepticSmart Week, I wanted to share some of the training behind the work we do at Voils Concrete & Excavating.

I completed Presby Environmental’s Enviro-Septic certification course for Indiana design and installation. I took this training because installing a septic system is about a lot more than digging a hole and setting a tank. Soil conditions, elevation, drainage, system layout, and manufacturer requirements all have to work together.

When someone trusts me to install a system on their property, I want them to know I understand what I’m installing and how it needs to be done. That system needs to serve their family for years, and I take that responsibility seriously.

We’re wrapping up SepticSmart Week with one of the easiest ways to protect your system: watch what goes down the drain.

Avoid flushing wipes, even the ones labeled “flushable.” Keep grease, chemicals, feminine products, paper towels, and other nonbiodegradable items out of the system. Reducing unnecessary water use and spreading out loads of laundry can also help.

Take care of your septic system, keep up with regular maintenance, and it will be more likely to serve your home reliably for years.
