Big congratulations to Holladay Ventures and the whole team on last week's Park 24 grand opening!

This project's story starts long before construction. The original apartment complex on this site had been condemned years earlier, and when redevelopment plans first surfaced, residents and neighbors in historic McFerrin Park pushed back, worried about being displaced from a community they'd called home for generations.

Starting in 2021, the developers built a team of local experts, alongside the Urban League of Middle Tennessee, Pillars, PATH, and the Salvation Army, and spent a year working directly with the McFerrin Park and Cleveland Park Neighborhood Associations.

Together, they shaped a Community Benefits Agreement that guaranteed relocation assistance, priority access to new units for existing residents, more affordable housing than the site had before, local jobs in construction and property management, and upgrades to play equipment in nearby McFerrin Park.

Metro Planning Commission approved the resulting plan unanimously, with commissioners calling the engagement process a new gold standard for multifamily development in Nashville.

Long-term affordable housing is no small feat. is proud to have a part to play in its story, and even more excited for what's ahead for this community!

Laura joined Hawkins Partners in 1992, just six years after Kim and Gary Hawkins founded the firm. 33 years later, she’s still finding new reasons to love the work.

Soaking up every last drop of the summer sun at Pullman Gulch Union!

Hawkins Partners served as landscape architect for Pullman Gulch Union, a 29-story residential tower marking the gateway between Downtown Nashville and The Gulch. The amenity design spans two levels built for different rhythms of life: a sixth-floor terrace with pickleball courts, green space, and fire pits, and a rooftop sky club with a pool overlooking the downtown skyline. Add in a fitness center, co-working lounges, and a dog park and pet spa, and the landscape becomes everyday infrastructure, not just scenery.

Recently, Kim Hawkins was in Cool Springs and couldn't resist snapping a few photos at Park Place! What did she find? A Tuesday afternoon buzzing with activity — kids at the playground, friends gathering on the lawn, people finding their own favorite corner of the park to connect with nature and each other!

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Martha Ingram, a true visionary whose passion for the arts transformed communities and touched countless lives.

We had the immense honor and joy of working directly with Martha on two projects that were particularly close to her heart: the Schermerhorn Symphony Center here in Nashville and the Gaillard Center in her hometown of Charleston.

In every conversation and design review, Martha held a deep, unwavering belief in the power of beauty. She understood that a thoughtful, beautiful space shouldn’t be a luxury—it should be a welcoming place for everyone. She knew that beauty has the quiet power to uplift, unite, and positively impact all people who cross its path.

Thank you, Martha, for your extraordinary vision, your leadership, and for trusting us to help bring your dreams into the light. Your legacy will continue to bloom in the spaces you helped create for generations to come.

Happy 18 Years at Hawkins Partners, Will Marth!

Will has helped shape projects at Hawkins Partners with an eye toward community and environmental quality for over 18 years. His work encompasses large-scale urban design, green and complete streets, and rooftop projects, always rooted in a commitment to making the communities he’s working in more walkable, bikeable, and connected.

Beyond his work with Hawkins Partners, Will is deeply engaged with communities across Nashville — from his board role with the Lockeland Springs Neighborhood Association to his long-running mentorship with Preston Taylor Ministries and his involvement with Root Nashville, Tour de Nash, and YCAP.

Congratulations, Will, and thank you for 18 years of thoughtful design and community leadership. We're excited for what's ahead.
