Let’s talk about discolored leaves!!

Y’all would not even know how many times I’ve had to talk a new plant parent down because their plant has a leaf that is discolored and they think it’s a goner. 😅 No judgement, because we’ve all been there!
•
There are countless reasons why, but more often than not it’s just because it’s that leaves time to go. Especially if the leaf is lower on the plant, like the one I’m holding!
•
When people send me plant pics in search of advice I always ask these questions:
- Does your pot have drainage?
- What is your lighting light?
- What are your watering habits?

The answers to those questions give a great baseline for plant care and areas that may need improvement.

I was just going through my photos and realized I never shared these with you all.

This summer we grew a sunflower that passed roof level! These photos have no filter and I’m just in awe of the pink sky and massive sunflower!

Fun fact: all of our sunflowers were grown from seeds I harvested last summer. Our oldest and her grandparents grew a sunflower and I wanted to start a meaningful tradition. ❤️😭

I made the mistake of not watering this maidenhair fern before we left for a short trip and she fully crisped up.... BUT she’s coming back and thriving so I can’t really complain. 🤪

HELLOOOO, new friends!! 🥰

I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. In the planty space, I go by ‘PropMomma’ but my real name is Ginh! I have two beautiful children who are only 15 months apart in age...as well as two cats and a dog that is practically the same size as me. 😅
•
I have always had plants, but plants became so much more during the postpartum season after having our second child.
•
That time was so hard. I struggled mentally in a ways I never had before. During that time, I was also officially diagnosed with anxiety and PTSD.
•
Caring for plants and growing my collection allowed me to find myself again and heal. I would just remind myself that if God cared enough to make new life from the tiniest of broken leaves, He cared exponentially more for me and wanted to make new life from my brokenness.
•

Beginning to harvest the first sunflower that bloomed this season and it’s SO bitter sweet. We decided to cut off the main bloom because three more are growing from the main stalk! What’s even cooler is the seeds on this sunflower, they are purple!!
