Wet spring weather means favorable conditions for fungal diseases to spread and infect our trees and shrubs. Our Plant Health Care Technicians are currently out in full force making fungicide applications to prevent diseases, such as apple scab, on crabapples and other plants. Congratulations to Alex Riedijk for earning his arborist certification. Alex spends most of his time on our general tree care crews and occasionally helps out with plant health care. His passion for tree care shows through every day and we are grateful to have him on our team!

Our crews recently completed a large street tree pruning project for the City of West Allis. We raised the canopies over roadways, removed hazardous deadwood and improved tree structure. Thank you to the City and all the residents for the opportunity to work on this project. Please keep us in mind for any future municipal tree care projects throughout Southeastern Wisconsin.

We look at trees every day but can still be awestruck by certain ones from time to time. Nick and Alex had the privilege of pruning this majestic American Elm in Franklin, WI yesterday. They also installed a number of support cables for some of the larger limbs to prevent failure. This elm was over 4' in diameter and was so large that they spent all day pruning it and still have to come back a second day to finish up. Please remember to have all American Elms and Oak trees pruned before April 1st to prevent diseases.

Tree care can be dangerous work. Through our commitment to providing a safe work environment, we hosted the Red Cross at our office last week so that all of our staff could be certified in First Aid and CPR. Although we hope to never have to use these skills, we will be ready if the situation ever calls for them.
