The rumblings are true. At the conclusion of this weekend, we flip the switch from below-average daily temperatures to above-average daily temperatures, which will take us straight into the 4th of July weekend. While the data is centered in Lansing, the entire state will feel the heat. In fact, some areas to the north that deal with something called downsloping may see feels-like temperatures closer to the 110°F mark.

Obviously, this data is very preliminary, but early signs of impacts due to excessive heat are on the way. Those who deal with illnesses due to heat, and healthy individuals alike should take necessary precautions ahead of time. June 30th through the 4th of July will be the hottest four-to-five day stretch over the next two weeks.

In layman terms, welcome back summer. This first look forecast is as of noon on June 25th, 2026, and subject to change.
