Roofer Chicks

Roofer Chicks Roofer Chicks® has you (and your roof) covered. I get asked quite often- how in the world, did I, a GIRL, get into roofing??? Was my dad a roofer? Noooo…..

Woman-owned and proud to deliver heroic service, a transparent no-pressure experience, and a lifetime workmanship warranty—all while making real community impact. I was just following my big brother around like I did my entire childhood. Scott is 5 years older than me and we both happened to be attending Iowa State University at the same time (1994? I think?). He was a construction engineering maj

or, making his money on the weekends by being a waiter at Pizza Hut. One of his peers recommended he think about starting a roofing crew in the summers, and thus, Feller Roofing was born. I went to work with him during his second summer. Since I was a girl, I started on the ground crew, picking up trash and throwing it in the dumpster. It was general knowledge that girls shouldn’t really be on the roof. Then a day came where we had a terrible customer. He was all up in everyone’s face, yelling and carrying on. Honestly, we were children, and it was pretty intimidating. The roof was over 2 stories and super steep. Between the screaming guy and the roof attributes, only one worker wanted to get on the roof- and you really needed two. I saw it as an opportunity to get away from the customer, and I volunteered to get on the roof. I didn’t know what I was doing – I just handed Jud (the other guy up there) shingles and tools as he asked for them. Kind of like an assistant in surgery. “Scalpel!”

The rest is history. Roofer Chicks (formerly Feller Roofing) started servicing the New Braunfels market in 2012. We’ve been voted Best of by the readers of the Herald Zeitung for 7 years in a row and have an A+ rating with the BBB. We’d love to help you look at your roofing project!

Well… we found the problem. 🍺😂

We were repairing a leaking roof jack recently when we opened things up and discovered a surprise hidden inside the roof system: a Corona bottle.

Now, to be fair, we can’t say with 100% certainty that the beer bottle caused the leak.

But we also can’t say it didn’t. 🤣

Roofing is full of surprises. Over the years we’ve found tools, soda cans, golf balls, toys, wasp nests, and all sorts of mystery items hiding inside roofs. This one is definitely making the highlight reel.

The good news is we fixed the leak.

The bad news is the evidence suggests somebody may have been enjoying “roof refreshments” on the job many years ago. 🍻

Just another day in roofing. You never know what you’re going to find when you start opening things up! 🏠🔨

Earlier this month, we attended the career fair for New Braunfels Middle School - right here in the footprint of our office. (Go Dragons 🐉)

Honestly, career fairs always seem to land during one of the busiest times of year for us. Spring in roofing is no joke 😅 But we’re really glad we made the time to go to this one.

The kids were super engaged, asked a TON of questions, and seemed genuinely curious about the trades and what we do. That’s encouraging to see.

Sometimes community involvement looks like big projects and sponsorships… and sometimes it just looks like showing up and talking to middle schoolers about roofing, business, and career paths they may not have considered before.

It was a good day. 💗

People often ask me what my favorite thing about being in the roofing industry is. I know it’s simple. But it’s this.

Yesterday was one of those really good days ☀️🏠

Yesterday we completed our very first FORTIFIED Roof™ install, and Patrick and I spent the entire day on the roof making sure every detail and protocol was followed exactly right.

We’ve been excited about this roofing system for a long time, so finally getting to install one felt pretty special. More details coming soon… 👀

Beautiful weather, a roof we’re proud of, and cheeseburgers at Dan’s afterward. Honestly? Doesn’t get much better than that 🍔😂

Saturday, Patrick and I had the privilege of serving with our Rotary Club on a Room Redux project for two children in foster care. ❤️

Our company donated a good bit of the construction materials for the project, but honestly… Patrick was the real MVP of the day. The house needed two stair handrails built in order to meet foster system inspection requirements, and thankfully that is right in his wheelhouse. Watching him jump in and quietly figure things out like he always does made me really proud.

There’s something powerful about watching a group of people come together to create a safe, beautiful place for kids who have already been through so much.

By the end of the day we were absolutely filthy, sore, and completely exhausted. The kind of tired where you don’t even want to talk on the drive home. 😂

But our hearts were very, very full.

Sometimes the best days aren’t the easy ones. They’re the ones where everybody shows up, works hard, and leaves knowing they helped make someone’s world a little softer and safer. 🩷

Thank you, all, for BEING Room Redux!!!

Sometimes when it rains nonstop and every roof in town decides to start leaking at the exact same time… tensions get a little high around the office and in the field. 😅

So Friday, we decided our crew needed a reset button.

Enter: PICKLEBALL. 🏓😂

Most of us had never played before, which honestly made it even more entertaining. There were wildly missed balls, questionable athletic ability, and a whole lot of laughing. Thankfully, Carol is an avid player and took it upon herself to educate the rest of us on the rules… and probably save a few lives in the process. 🤣

Truthfully, it was exactly what we needed.

We work hard around here. REALLY hard. And sometimes the best thing you can do for your team is step away from the stress for a minute and just be humans together instead of coworkers putting out fires and chasing leaks.

Also… roofing crews are apparently extremely competitive at pickleball. Who knew? 🫠🩷

Back in 2017 when we bought our office, the red-tailed hawks were circling overhead the day we signed the papers. I remember stopping and thinking… “Well that HAS to mean something.” ❤️

And every single year since then, they’ve come back.

This week, their babies hatched, and now we can see their fuzzy little heads popping up out of the nest in our neighbor’s tree. It honestly feels like watching old friends return home.

I looked up the symbolism of red-tailed hawks, and apparently they represent vision, protection, courage, wisdom, and paying attention to the bigger picture. Many traditions even see them as a sign that you’re on the right path.

That one hit me a little in the feelings.

Because Roofer Chicks has been one wild ride since 2017. Some years have felt soaring-high and some years felt more like hanging on by one fingernail in a windstorm. 😂 But through all of it… those hawks keep coming back.

Maybe they’re just birds. Or maybe they’re our little feathered reminder to keep going, keep building, keep protecting, and keep looking forward.

Either way… we’re pretty fond of them around here. 🦅🩷

Today I had the honor of speaking to the Tri-Cities High Twelve Club here in New Braunfels about my journey into the roofing industry and the story behind Roofer Chicks. 🩷🏠

I’m always game for opportunities to practice my public speaking! It’s something I want to get better and better at. This organization is affiliated with the Shriners, and the Shriners literally saved my mom’s life when she was a little girl. So this one felt personal.

I was invited by one of our customers, Joe Diliberto, and everyone there was incredibly kind and welcoming. We laughed, told stories, talked about roofing, business, life… and they even bought my lunch, which is always a way to a roofer’s heart. 😂

It’s funny sometimes to stop and think about how far life can take you. From being a struggling single mom trying to survive… to standing in front of a room full of people sharing how I somehow ended up owning a roofing company in my flowered cowboy boots. 👢 🌺

Life is wild. And I’m grateful for all of it. ❤️
