With the storms that rolled through, some people don't know how septic systems work.
If you had large trees land on or puncture your system, you may want to get your system checked. Most fields are 12 inches to 36 inches in the ground. That isn't very much. A single tree can ruin your system.

This is one single yard. They landed right on the field.

Here is some Septic Education for your Monday!

This is a diagram of a system that has a pump tank.

Some of you out there that have "two tanks" this is most likely what you're looking at.
Some septic tanks only have one lid so you may just have a lid for each tank.

Pumps are used in areas that obviously are not flat and need to have water pumped up a hill, etc.

If your pump goes out or the electric to your pump is bad, your septic may back up.

Last week's adventures consisted of replacing orangeburge pipe.
For those who are not familiar with it,
Orangeburge pipe was used from the 1860s through the 1970s. 🛖

Its the consistency of a rolled up roof shingle and crumbles easily. 😬

With that being said if this is the type of pipe used on your system, hope for the best and prepare for the worst as it will need replaced. 💯
When that time comes- you know who to call.
