🏡 Two Stone Fireplaces. Modern Convenience. Historic Character.

What seemed like a straightforward electrical installation turned into an unexpected challenge!

Our team was tasked with adding electrical outlets and data cables above two stone fireplaces in a Historic New Castle home to accommodate wall-mounted TVs.

But as is often the case with older properties, there were a few surprises waiting behind the walls!

Behind the sheetrock, we encountered more brickwork than anticipated, concealed beneath layers of plaster. What initially appeared to be a straightforward installation required careful planning, creative problem-solving, and additional precision to work around the existing construction.

⚡ The result? Strategically positioned electrical outlets and data connections designed to minimize visible wiring while preserving the home’s original character.

At Old New Castle Electric, we understand that historic properties require more than technical expertise. They demand adaptability, thoughtful solutions, and respect for the craftsmanship that makes each home unique.

Preserving character. Adding functionality.

⚡ Done Right. Done ONCE.

⚡️Six condominiums. Recurring power outages. A problem that wasn’t visible to the naked eye. ⚡

Sometimes, having the right technology makes all the difference.

While investigating repeated power outages affecting six units in a condominium building, we used our FLIR infrared thermal imaging camera to examine the electrical service equipment.

The camera revealed elevated temperatures along a service cable, with readings reaching 144°F, helping us pinpoint a potential source of the problem.

But technology is only as valuable as the experience behind it. Knowing what to look for, how to interpret the findings, and what steps to take next is what turns information into answers.

At Old New Castle Electric, we invest in the tools and technology that help us work smarter, troubleshoot more accurately, and make informed decisions for our customers.

Done Right. Done ONCE. ⚡

Meet Josh, the newest member of the ONCE team! ⚡️

Josh recently joined Old New Castle Electric as an electrical apprentice while attending Hodgson Vo-Tech in New Castle.

In the short time he’s been with us, Josh has already shown us what kind of young man he is. He’s an incredibly hard worker, dedicated and committed, a fast learner, and always respectful. He shows up ready to work, listens, asks questions, and genuinely wants to learn the trade.

We’re also proud to be taking another step forward as a company by joining Delaware’s Registered Apprenticeship Program as an apprenticeship sponsor. For us, growing ONCE isn’t only about taking on more work. It’s also about passing along the knowledge, skills, and standards of the trade to the next generation.

Josh has exactly the kind of qualities we value, and we couldn’t be happier to have him on our team. We’re excited to watch him continue to learn, grow, and build a career in the electrical trade.

So if you see a new face with us on your next job, make sure to say hello to Josh! 👋⚡️

Welcome to the ONCE team, Josh. We’re glad you’re here!

⚡ Project Spotlight: Commercial Power Outage Troubleshooting

ONCE was recently called to a commercial facility following an unexpected power outage.

Our team inspected and diagnosed the facility’s main electrical distribution equipment, including the multi-section switchgear and associated feeders, to help determine what caused the loss of power and identify the appropriate next steps.

Commercial outages can involve much more than a tripped breaker. Troubleshooting a system of this size requires a methodical evaluation of the electrical distribution system to locate the source of the problem safely and efficiently.

From unexpected outages and equipment issues to ongoing commercial electrical maintenance, Old New Castle Electric is equipped to troubleshoot complex commercial electrical systems.

⚡️Project Spotlight: Commercial HVAC Controls

Commercial HVAC controls in progress. This setup uses differential pressure switches to monitor low and high pressure conditions within the HVAC system, helping keep equipment operating safely and as intended.

Clean controls, careful labeling, and attention to every connection. The details behind the panel matter just as much as what you see when the job is finished.
