A 5% "HOSPITALITY CHARGE" ON EVERY CHECK?! 🚨

So now we're being told that a mandatory 5% hospitality charge will automatically be added to every bill to help fund employee benefits. 😳💸

On one hand, I absolutely believe restaurant workers deserve good benefits, fair pay, and support. Nobody should have to choose between paying rent and seeing a doctor. ❤️

But here's the question that's dividing people...

Why is it the customer's responsibility to fund employee benefits through surprise charges? 🤔

Some people say this is a reasonable way for small businesses to survive in a tough economy. Others say it's just another hidden fee that should already be included in menu prices. 🍔📈

Customers are frustrated because the advertised price isn't always the final price.

Restaurant owners are frustrated because operating costs keep rising and they're running out of options.

😳🍽 So apparently some restaurants are now putting customers on a 60-minute timer during busy hours...

I'm sorry, but when did going out to eat start feeling like taking a timed exam? ⏰🤦‍♂️

I understand restaurants need to serve more people and make money during peak hours. Empty tables don't pay the bills. But if I'm paying for food, drinks, dessert, and leaving a tip, am I really supposed to be watching the clock the entire time? 😬

What if you're celebrating a birthday? 🎂
What if you're catching up with family you haven't seen in months? ❤️
What if your food arrives late and half your hour is already gone? 🤷‍♂️

On the other hand, restaurant owners are saying customers who sit for hours after finishing their meal prevent other paying guests from getting a table. They argue it's a business, not a community center. 💰

So who's right?

✅ Customers should be able to relax and enjoy their dining experience.

You walk into a coffee shop, buy a cup of coffee, find an empty table, and quietly sit there working, reading, or chatting with friends...

And now some businesses are questioning whether you should even be allowed to stay? 🤯

On one side, customers say: "I paid for something. If there are open seats, why shouldn't I stay as long as I want?"

On the other side, business owners argue: "That table isn't free. One person sitting there for 4 hours after spending $4 could be costing us dozens of paying customers."

🏪 Business Owners: "We're running a business, not a public library."

And people are arguing about it.

Some customers say cash is legal tender and businesses should be prepared to make change for any bill a customer uses.

Others say small businesses aren't banks, and constantly breaking $100 bills for a $12 meal can quickly drain their cash drawer and create security issues.

🤔 Imagine your total is $14.75 and all you have is a $100 bill.

Should the restaurant be required to accept it?

Imagine sitting down at a restaurant and pulling out food you brought from home. Some people say it's disrespectful to the business, while others think it shouldn't matter if they're still buying drinks or eating with friends.

🚨🍽 40% TIP... OR DON'T EAT HERE? 🍽🚨

I honestly had to read this sign twice because I thought it was a joke.

A restaurant is now telling customers that a 40% tip is mandatory and if you can't afford it, you "can't afford to dine here." 😳

Since when did tipping go from a thank-you for great service to a requirement for walking through the door? Customers are already paying for the food, drinks, taxes, service fees, and everything else. At what point does a tip stop being a tip and become an extra charge? 🤔

But on the other hand, restaurant owners and servers will argue that labor costs are rising, staff deserve better pay, and if customers want exceptional service, they should help support the people providing it. 💰👨‍🍳

So who's really responsible for paying employees fairly:
👉 The customer?
👉 The business owner?
👉 Or both?

Because if a restaurant can require a 40% tip today, what's next... 50%? 60%? 😬

Some people will call this respecting workers.
Others will call it pure greed.

SHOULD RESTAURANTS CHARGE FOR WATER REFILLS? 🤔

I never thought this would even be a debate, but with food costs, labor costs, and operating expenses continuing to rise, some people believe restaurants should start charging for unlimited water refills.

Others say water is a basic courtesy when you're already paying for a meal and shouldn't come with an extra fee. 😳

Supporters argue that nothing is truly free—cups, ice, labor, and utilities all cost money.

Critics say charging for water refills is just another way businesses are nickel-and-diming customers who are already dealing with higher prices everywhere they go.
