Why Should You Hire a Licensed Pro? Did you know that in Connecticut, to obtain an Unlimited Electrical Contractor's License, which permits the holder to perform all electrical services in residential and commercial settings, you must prove multiple years of in-the-field experience? You must also pass a test on the law and business practices in CT, pass a rigorous four-hour exam covering every possible aspect of residential and commercial electrical work, and show proof of annual continuing education to renew the license each year. A handyman may offer you a discount on their services because they have some experience in the field and "do this on the side." But do you really want to leave your electric work to chance? Call us today and see the difference our experience makes.

We came across this setup on a job in New Fairfield, Connecticut…

Wires run through wood, exposed connections, and no proper boxes—outside in the elements.

Situations like this can become dangerous, especially when moisture gets involved.

👉 What would you do if you saw this?
👉 Safe or unsafe?

If something in your home doesn’t look right, it’s always worth having it checked.

When bathroom lights and outlets stop working, most people assume it’s the circuit breaker.

In this case, an elderly Redding, Connecticut couple had partial power and partial lighting—and even their son thought it was a breaker issue.

But the readings told a different story.

✔️ Low voltage from hot to neutral
✔️ Full voltage from hot to ground

That pointed to a loose or compromised neutral, not a breaker problem.

After tracing the issue, we found the cause:
A hidden GFCI outlet under the bathroom sink that the homeowner didn’t even know existed.

Once repaired, everything tested and functioned properly again.

👉 Electrical problems aren’t always obvious—and guessing can lead you in the wrong direction.

If something doesn’t seem right, it’s always best to have it checked safely and correctly.

Spring Electrical Safety Checklist for Connecticut Homeowners

As the weather warms up here in Connecticut, many homeowners turn their attention to spring cleaning, yard work, and outdoor projects. It’s also the perfect time to take a closer look at your home’s electrical system—especially after a long winter. Cold temperatures, moisture, and increased electrical usage can all take a toll on your system. A quick seasonal check can help you catch small issues before they turn into bigger (and more expensive) problems....

We went in for what looked like a standard outlet and switch swap in Danbury, Connecticut…

and found a “switch” that wasn’t even wired.

It looked like a 3-gang setup—but one of those switches was just sitting there doing nothing.

This is exactly why electrical work isn’t always as straightforward as it seems.

Every job is different, and the goal is always the same:
✔️ Safe
✔️ Properly wired
✔️ Up to code

This one is now GFCI protected and done right 👍

Small upgrade. Big difference.

We converted this setup into a 3-gang box with a GFI outlet (with USB) and added full protection to the circuit.

Bonus: properly labeled the panel so the homeowner knows exactly what’s what next time.

It’s not just about making it work—it’s about making it right.

Why Your Lights Dim When You Turn Things On (And Why You Shouldn’t Ignore It)

If your lights dim when appliances turn on, it’s not just an annoyance—it can signal serious electrical issues like loose wiring, a failing neutral, or even problems coming from the utility supply. These issues can worsen over time and should be checked by a licensed electrician. When Dimming Lights Are a Warning Sign It’s normal for lights to dim slightly…...

If your lights dim when you turn on appliances, don’t ignore it.

In this case, it wasn’t just one issue—it was multiple:

• A burnt neutral inside the panel
• Loose connections that needed tightening
• And fluctuating voltage coming from the utility side

That combination can put your home at risk and cause serious damage over time.

Electrical problems aren’t always straightforward—and that’s why proper troubleshooting matters.

If something doesn’t seem right in your home, it’s always worth having it checked.

Bad switch… or bad fixture? 👀

Flickering lights are one of the most common calls we get—and a lot of homeowners assume it’s the switch.

In this case, the power and wiring checked out perfectly… which pointed us straight to the fixture.

Simple fix—but not something you want to ignore ⚠️

If something in your home doesn’t seem right, it’s always worth getting it checked.

Have you ever heard a buzzing sound coming from outside your house?

A customer called us for a “humming breaker” — and that sound is never something to ignore.

In this case, the issue came down to a poor connection. We were able to get it to stop temporarily, but that doesn’t mean the problem is gone.

⚠️ Buzzing = something isn’t making proper contact
⚠️ And that can lead to bigger issues if left alone

If something sounds off, it probably is.
