This project features a planting of native grasses and forbs enrolled in CRP. The habitat design includes excellent nesting cover with a diverse mix of grasses and high-forb species, along with dedicated winter cover provided by blocks of switchgrass adjacent to food plots.
If you're interested in establishing native grasses and forbs on your property, reach out today to discuss your project.

This spring, we frost-seeded clover, and the results are looking great! The clover is establishing well, with only a few weeds mixed in, and those can be easily managed. It's exciting to see another valuable food source developing for local wildlife.

Forestry mulching is just the first step in controlling invasive species. After the initial mulching, we can return and treat the regrowth to help get invasive plants under control more effectively.

By removing the top growth through forestry mulching, the plant is forced to use its stored energy reserves to produce new growth. When we come back to spray, that fresh regrowth is easier to target, allowing for better coverage and improved herbicide effectiveness. This two-step approach can provide more successful long-term control than spraying mature, overgrown stands alone.

Combining forestry mulching with follow-up treatments helps reclaim your property, improve habitat, and give desirable native vegetation a better chance to thrive.

Do you have invasive plants on your property and aren’t sure where to start? Reach out today and let us help you!

Forestry mulching is a great option for cleaning up and improving your grove, even on smaller acreages. It can effectively remove invasive species, open up overgrown areas, and help restore your property to the condition you want.

In this location, the cleared area will soon be planted to establish a new windbreak, providing protection for years to come. We also intentionally left a wall of brush in place to help block snow and wind from reaching the nearby buildings during the winter months.

Forestry mulching is an efficient way to reclaim neglected areas, improve access, prepare sites for new plantings, and promote healthier habitat—all while putting your land to work for the future.

If you need a grove cleaned up at your acreage reach out and see how we can help!

This spring, we planted more than 7,500 bare-root trees and shrubs, including burr oak, red oak, pin oak, cedar, walnut, hazelnut, elderberry, and potted apple and pear trees. Bare-root planting is a cost-effective and efficient way to establish healthy forests, improve wildlife habitat, reduce erosion, and create lasting environmental benefits. These projects help ensure the next generation of forests is growing strong for future generations to enjoy.

This project included forestry mulching an old fence line and getting it back into manageable state! After mulching has taken place we will come back to this site and spray all of the regrowth to kill it. If you have any questions or projects like this reach out today!

This week's project involves removing trees from a remnant prairie. Although cutting trees can seem counterintuitive, remnant prairie is one of Iowa's rarest ecosystems, with only a tiny fraction of the original landscape remaining less than .1%.These sites have never been plowed and contain native plants and wildlife that depend on open, sunny conditions. Removing encroaching trees helps restore the prairie ecosystem and allows native species to thrive.
