This exquisite red oak staircase was a challenging and unusual build. The process was almost as cool as the finished product and so we've included some of the work in process photos. The team first constructed circular central forms as a support for the staircase to be built around. This staircase called for bent laminations for the stringers and handrails. Intricate spindle and riser cutouts were machined on the CNC router. Once the parts were complete the team mocked everything up in the shop before disassembling it for finishing and shipment. The stairs were finally united with the pulpit and tester at a church in Tennessee.

A Project Managers job is never done. Chris Sheaffer jumps in to help install LED lighting on the interiors of these cerused white oak cabinets for a hotel project headed to King of Prussia. Needless to say its all hands on deck right now as we push to hit deadlines on multiple projects that are wrapping up over the next few weeks.

Growth and education have always been an important part of who we are as a company. It's hard to step back from the pressure of schedules and production for even 30 min. But we feel, detrimental to the future of the company that we continue to move forward as individuals in skills, education and personal growth. Although we lost our cadence for awile the STW Institute had a welcome return this week. Never stop learning 🙌

The team works hard in the shop to build quality products and hit deadlines but it's not without a healthy dose of humor and the occasional shenanigans. Life is all about balance.

Our recent trip to Costa Rica wouldn't have been complete without a few industry related stops along the way. Costa Rica is known for its rich native tree diversity hosting somewhere around 2,300 species in commercially used timber. Guanacaste, Pochote, and Cortez Amarillo being some of the most commonly known. We visited a local furniture maker and were able to purchase a few small samples of wood to bring home as well as a hand turned cocobola bowl from a local artisan.

While out exploring the countryside on motorcycle our guide, .jimenezfernandez swung us by a Teak plantation and sawmill. We also visited a local wood carver preparing for an upcoming exhibition. He was happy to let us try our hand at wood carving. Patience and persistence here are your friend. The contrast to the way we do business in the states was refreshing and eye opening. Thank you Costa Rica for your generous hospitality!
