Last week, Louisiana Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser graciously took time out of his busy schedule to stop by and say hello to John and the Campo team.
 
Lieutenant Governor Nungesser has long supported historic preservation efforts throughout Louisiana, and we appreciate his continued work to help protect and celebrate the places that tell our state’s story. We are grateful he took the time to visit with our team!

A few moments from a memorable day in Amarillo!🤠
The Campo project team recently gathered with ownership, project partners, and members of the community to celebrate the next chapter of the historic Herring Hotel.
From Mary Althoff Gilmore sharing the vision for the project to our team enjoying the excitement of the day, it was a special opportunity to recognize the journey ahead.
The Herring Hotel brings together the full range of Campo’s services, including real estate development, historic tax credit consulting, architecture, and interior design. Thank you to owner Todd Harmon for trusting our team to be part of such a monumental project.

This week for Preservation Month, we’re recognizing some of the Campo team members who put care, precision, and dedication into keeping historic gems alive. Captured during field site visits, these photos show real moments of the work that it takes to preserve what is there, honor what was, and protect historic buildings for what may come next. Only a handful are pictured, but their efforts represent the everyday commitment behind Campo’s preservation work.

Our team returned with new product discoveries, design ideas, and valuable connections from across the industry. and participated in the Hosted Buyer Program, and participated in a panel discussing smarter hotel renovations.

This Preservation Month, we take a look back at just a few of the many historic properties we’ve had the honor of helping preserve, restore, and reimagine. Each project tells a story of craftsmanship, community, and the people who built them to those who work to preserve them today. The National Trust for Historic Preservation’s theme this year is, “All People Are Created Equal,” reminds us that preservation is about more than restoring buildings. It’s about honoring the many hands, voices, and stories that make these places worth saving.

Today we’re celebrating the power of adaptive reuse and the potential of spaces that already have a story to tell.

Thoughtful design is not always about starting over. It is often about recognizing potential and building on what is already there.

☀️Taking a break from deadlines and spending the first Friday of French Quarter Fest together is one of our favorite annual traditions. 🎶The weather was beautiful, the festival was full of energy, and this year we were especially glad to welcome some new faces to the Campo team. We’re lucky to live and work in a city that gives us so many chances to celebrate together.

⭐️Not all site visits look the same. Yesterday, John T. Campo, Jr. and Shelby Shankle trip took a nostalgic turn thanks to our client, who gave them a tour in a beautifully preserved 1930s Model A Ford. Moments like these remind us that preservation is always worth the ride!😁
