Bosco Verticale: Vertical Forest. Where architecture, horticulture, conservation and urban planning meet. Designed by Boeri Studio, these two residential towers house over 20,000 trees, shrubs and floral plants which convert an approximate 40,000 pounds of CO2 into oxygen, help mitigate smog, storm water run off, and the urban heat island effect, promotes biodiversity and are also self sufficient, using renewable energy from solar panels and reusing filtered waste water to keep the buildings’ plant life flourishing. In short, these two buildings, and the surrounding gardens are exemplary examples of what the future of architecture and urban planning should be looking like!
