"Open cell or closed cell β which one do I need?" We get this question on almost every estimate. π€
And honestly? A lot of contractors either don't explain it well or just push the more expensive option. So here's the straight answer.
Open-cell foam is lighter, softer, and expands more. It's great for soundproofing and costs less. Best fit: interior walls, attics, ceilings.
Closed-cell foam is denser and stronger. Higher R-value blocks moisture and even adds structural strength to walls. Best fit: basements, exterior walls, crawl spaces β and anywhere water could be an issue.
Here's the part that matters: the right choice depends on YOUR space, not on what's most profitable for you to sell. Sometimes the cheaper option is genuinely the better one. That's exactly what the free on-site estimate is for β we look at the space and tell you what actually makes sense.
