We were so excited to talk with community residents at our public outreach event this weekend at the Town of Hamlin's Junk Jamboree!

Set along the banks of Sandy Creek in the town of Hamlin, NY, Scout Park is an angler’s paradise and a well-loved community space. Starr Whitehouse is working with and to enhance the park's ecology, optimize programming, support local community use, and plan for the park's sustainable future as part of NYPA’s Reimagine the Canals initiative.

Scenes from the Anderson Plaza groundbreaking in downtown New Rochelle, NY last week! Starr Whitehouse is working with the City of New Rochelle, L+M Development Partners and Wilder Balter to redesign the downtown street and urban plaza, reconfiguring and regrading the street so that it can be temporarily pedestrianized and support community programs. By bringing nature into the city and creating welcoming social spaces, the Anderson Plaza design will make downtown New Rochelle more healthy, inclusive, and livable.

Check out these views of Marsha P Johnson State Park in construction! It's a great time of year to visit for a waterfront stroll or picnic if you're in the area. The Williamsburg park is named in honor of Marsha P Johnson, who was an activist and pioneer of the LGBTQ+ civil rights movement. Commemoration is conceived as a journey from an entry gate that welcomes people of all backgrounds to Marsha’s park, "a place on the river to be who you are." Flowering trees, perennials, and wetland gardens commemorate Marsha’s love of flowers, concluding with a mosaic overlook that reflects on Marsha’s life and the lives of other transgender women who were murdered.

We are so excited to share that our Manhattan Greenway Harlem River project with and Glodstick Lighting received a 2022 + Transportation + Infrastructure Design Excellence Award! The awards celebrate exceptional design in transportation and infrastructure architecture by architects, landscape architects, and planners across the United States.

The Manhattan Greenway Harlem River will make waterfront recreation accessible to the East Harlem community in Upper Manhattan, and connect cyclists from Randall’s Island, the South Bronx, and Upper Manhattan to the entirety of the Manhattan Waterfront Greenway. We love this photo from the Pride Parade at the Public Square this past weekend! 🏳️‍🌈

Starr Whitehouse is excited to be working with Friends of the Public Square Hudson (FOPS) on the renovation of Hudson's Public Square. The Public Square has long played an integral role in Hudson’s public realm, dating back to the early 19th century. It is also our firm’s neighborhood park, located only 500 feet from our office at 553 Warren Street! We presented our first design concepts at a community meeting last Friday. Stay tuned for more project updates!
