Today’s neighborhood discovery: another tree that appears to be producing fruit! 🌳

As I was walking, I noticed these small green fruits growing in clusters and immediately became curious about what kind of tree it might be. I’m still learning to identify the different fruit trees I come across, so I’m hoping someone here can help.

I love that these little walks have turned into opportunities to learn more about the plants and trees growing around us. It’s a reminder that nature is all around us, even in the middle of the city.

Does anyone know what kind of tree this is? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Trying something new in the kitchen today! 🧈✨

I’ve mixed heavy cream and yogurt to start a batch of homemade cultured butter. Now comes the hard part—waiting 24 hours while the cultures work their magic.

Tomorrow I’ll chill it, churn it, and hopefully end up with rich, flavorful butter made completely from scratch. I’ve never made cultured butter before, so we’re learning together!

Have you ever made your own butter? Let me know your favorite way to enjoy it in the comments. 👇

I learned something new this gardening season!

Last year, I planted one cherry tomato plant near this container. Toward the end of the season, a few tomatoes dried up on the trellis and I left everything alone for the winter.

This spring, after all the snow and cold weather we had in NYC, I noticed several little plants growing in the container. After taking a closer look, I realized they were volunteer cherry tomato plants!

Apparently, some of the seeds from last year’s tomatoes survived the entire winter and germinated on their own. I honestly had no idea tomato seeds could do that.

Now I have THREE cherry tomato plants growing where I never planted any this year. Gardening never stops surprising me!

Has anyone else had volunteer tomatoes or other vegetables show up in their garden this season?

I need your help identifying this tree! 🌳🍒

I spotted it while walking through my neighborhood, and it appears to be covered in fruit. Does anyone know what kind of tree this is? If it is a fruit tree, what fruit does it produce?

One thing I’ve been noticing lately is how many interesting trees are growing right here in our communities. Seeing what may be fruit-bearing trees throughout the neighborhood makes me proud and hopeful. Imagine more neighborhoods filled with trees that not only provide shade and beauty but also support wildlife, pollinators, and local food sources.

I’d love to hear your thoughts. What do you think this tree is?

Lavender harvest day 💜🌿✨

I’ve been patiently waiting for the perfect time to harvest, and it’s finally here. There’s something so satisfying about growing a plant from start to finish and knowing these beautiful blooms will soon become homemade oils, soaps, and little self-care treats 🥹💚

The garden keeps giving in the sweetest ways.

This morning I saw a woman pulled over on the side of the road picking fruit from a tree and I could not stop wondering what she had found 😂🌿

Later on, after finishing my errands, I walked over and realized it was a blackberry tree 🫐✨

And honestly, that little moment stayed with me all day. It made me think about how beautiful it would be if more communities planted fruit trees instead of only decorative landscaping. Imagine more fresh food growing freely, more shade during the summer, more support for pollinators, and little moments of connection between people and nature 🌱💚

Sometimes the simplest things remind you how much abundance nature can provide when we make room for it.

Repotted my blueberry bush today and gave her a light sprinkle of coffee grounds ☕🫐🌱

I’ve been learning more about acid-loving plants lately and apparently blueberries can really appreciate coffee grounds in moderation because they help support the acidic soil conditions they love 😊

After all the nonstop rain we’ve had, I’m hoping she settles into her new pot beautifully and starts thriving again 💚

One thing gardening continues to teach me is that there’s always something new to learn. Every plant really has its own personality, needs, and preferences 🌱✨

Harvested my first light green zucchinis from the garden today 🥹🥒💚

They may be small, but seeing something grow from seed to harvest never gets old for me 🌱✨ After all the rain, slugs, and garden stress lately, this little harvest felt like such a win.

Gardening really teaches patience, gratitude, and appreciation for the small things 💚

Harvested some sweet peas from the garden today 🫛✨

I don’t think store-bought vegetables will ever compare to picking something fresh off the vine and tasting how naturally sweet it really is 😭💚

Little moments like this make all the watering, waiting, and patience so worth it 🌱

Friendly reminder from one gardener to another… not every caterpillar in your garden is harmless 😭🐛🌱

Some of these pests can wipe out your vegetables FAST if you don’t catch them early. I’ve been learning that gardening isn’t just watering plants and waiting for vegetables 😂 You really have to check leaves, stems, and soil every single day because the bugs are always plotting.

Between squash vine borers, tomato hornworms, cabbage worms, and cutworms, these tiny garden enemies can do serious damage overnight. Saving guides like this has honestly helped me learn what to look for before my plants get destroyed.

This is your sign to inspect your garden today 👀🥒🍅🌿

What’s the WORST garden pest you’ve dealt with so far?
