Method Design is an integrated design shop that focuses on the notion of provocation to activate spatial, material and social dynamics as a network of action and reaction. Equally comfortable with apartment restoration, ground-up construction and full-scale urban planning, our practice applies a design approach that simultaneously draws upon and challenges the context of each project in the develo

pment of a new experiential condition. The partners have extensive backgrounds in internationally recognized practices, in addition to intensive experiences in the field as builders, and in the classroom as professors. This has translated into a variety of projects and roles working in diverse local, regional, and international contexts. We currently perform the roles of registered architects, designers, planners, construction managers, building sciences consultants, and educators.

Visualizing history - as part of our work for , we designed an adaptable timeline detailing the non-profit’s nearly 200 year-old history. Wrapping around an original marble plaque from 1843, the timeline highlights key moments in the organization’s past, while leaving plenty of space for the future.

Part stair, part observation deck - this steel structure we designed as part of our work with Terreno Realty in Red Hook is supported by angled columns and uses Ipe cladding to accentuate a built-in seating area.
