🐀 Rats don’t care which city agency handles the trash, inspects a building, or responds to a complaint.

That’s why a city’s rat problem takes more than appointing a “rat czar.” It takes sanitation, housing, building enforcement, pest management professionals, and residents working together with clear accountability.

Issuing a violation doesn’t fix an infestation. Lasting progress means correcting conditions, sharing information, educating communities, and following through on problem properties.

“They’ll go outside looking for water.”

It’s a familiar claim about rodents after they consume rodenticide but according to a recent PCT article, there’s no evidence to support it. Rodents may die inside or outside a structure; their location can’t be guaranteed.
