Morning: an empty lot.
Evening: a brand-new home.

Yesterday we set the first of 29 homes in our Staten Island affordable housing modular development — a milestone years in the making.

These lots once held homes lost to Hurricane Sandy. We’re rebuilding with resilient, energy-efficient designs that are built for the future.

From trucks rolling in with each section to cranes lifting them into place, the day was a masterclass in teamwork.

Started at 8 AM. Wrapped by 4 PM.

A full foundation—complete with 10-foot basement ceilings—for our 3,900 sq ft modern modular ranch project, installed with precision and speed.

Urban Ecospaces recently had the phenomenal opportunity to share our career pathway and experience in sustainable construction with the very eager to learn participants in the Program. This significant program introduces students to the diverse aspects of the construction industry and helps connect them to job opportunities. We are very excited to welcome participant Samuel Butler to our team as our newest summer intern. A big thank you to David Hutchinson for implementing his vision of investing in our industry by investing in our youth.

Meet the Intern:

Samuel Butler is a sophomore at New York City College of Technology and is pursuing a degree in Construction Management. Samuel is eager to learn about various facets of the construction industry, and this summer he will have the opportunity to learn project management skills and sustainable design and construction.
