I’m becoming more interested in expanding as I age—not contracting.
Trying something new. Learning something I don’t know. Setting a goal that scares me a little. Taking a different route. Saying yes to something outside my usual routine.
It doesn’t have to be a marathon or a major life change. It can be ballroom dancing, a new restaurant, a different style of clothing, brushing your teeth with your other hand, or simply doing something you’re not very good at…yet.
Novelty, challenge, learning and curiosity are all good for our brains. But just as important to me, they keep life interesting.
I don’t want to spend my later years making my world smaller because it feels more comfortable.
I want more experiences.
More challenges.
More things to look forward to.
Expansion, not contraction.
What’s something new you’re going to try?

A morning walk with a friend reminded me that well-being is around us and in us all the time.

Though sometimes we are in such a hurry that our schedules overtake breathing and BEING. Looking around and noticing beautiful things you’ve driven past hundreds of times.
Feeling the sun.
Having a good conversation.
And stopping long enough to watch a baby dolphin swim by. 🐬

Maybe the things that nourish us aren’t always the things we measure.

Movement. Connection. Nature. Beauty. A little wonder.

All of it counts.

That feels like equipoise to me. 🤍

The “parlor” of an 1895 townhouse renovation on the Upper West Side we completed a few years ago. Even though the detailing looks period appropriate, this room was completely gutted and put back together. Oh and there’s a TV behind that mirror 😉

Primary bathrooms in NYC are just different. Having designed in many places, my favorite place to creatively problem solve is in New York City because there are so many constraints. Literally every inch counts in every direction. Happy Wednesday!

A beautiful, modern kitchen high above the Upper West Side. Kitchens really are the heart of the home and it’s quite hard to achieve such a generous space in NYC.

Sometimes clients need a little something special in a corner of their home. Swipe to see the before wall that we activated with some custom bookshelves, storage, and even a little desk. I enjoy projects of all sizes and delighted when my client’s daily life is improved by good design 🤩

It’s been a minute - here’s a beautiful modern bathroom we did. Swipe to see the before 😵. It always comes down to the details. Materials don’t necessarily need to be expensive, just thoughtfully chosen and installed. It also helps to have incredible clients
