A great day focused on the people behind the work ⚡

Recently, our teams came together at our Bronx headquarters for Electrical Division Safety Day alongside Gilston Electric, with support from Electra USA.

From hands-on demos and conversations with industry partners to raffles, giveaways, and time spent connecting outside the jobsite, the day was all about reinforcing the importance of safety across every level of the work.

Big thanks to everyone who helped make the day such a success.

This is where it starts.

Before anything gets powered, it’s trenches, conduit, and getting the groundwork right.

It’s not the part most people see, but it’s what everything depends on.

Most injuries don’t come from major incidents.

They come from the work that gets repeated every day, like lifting, carrying, repositioning.

It’s the kind of work that feels routine…until it isn’t.

A few ways we approach this at Hellman Electric:
✔️ Plan your path before moving material
✔️ Use mechanical aids when available
✔️ Keep material at a workable height
✔️ Stay aware of body positioning

Doing the same task every day doesn’t make it safer, it just makes it easier to overlook.

Follow the steps, stay aware, and treat every move like it matters.

Good work doesn’t start when the tools come out.

It starts before the task begins.
Most issues in the field aren’t surprises.

They come from missed steps, unclear communication, or assumptions about the work.

At Hellman Electric, preparation is part of the process.

Walking the job, identifying risk, and aligning the crew upfront drives how the work gets done.

It’s not about slowing things down.
It’s about executing the job the right way the first time.

Safety Day in action ⚡️

From hands-on demos to real-world insights, today was all about putting safety into practice and strengthening the way we show up on every job site.

A big thank you to our vendor partners—Menotti Enterprise, Portwest, Local #3 IBEW and Greenlee — for bringing their expertise, tools, and innovation to the table. And special thanks to Joe Esposito, VP of Field Operations & Assistant Superintendent, for recognizing the impact of coming together like this and keeping safety front and center.

At Hellman Electric, safety isn’t a one-day event—it’s the standard we carry into every job, every day.

We’re getting things set up for our Annual Safety Day 👷‍♂️

Hosted by Electra USA at our Bronx facility, things kick off today at 12:30 PM and we couldn’t be more excited. It’s shaping up to be a full day of hands-on activities, safety demos, and real conversations about how we work smarter and safer every day—with Gilston Electrical Contracting LLC joining us for knowledge sharing along the way.

We’ll also have BBQ from The Great American BBQ Co., raffle prizes, and guest speakers throughout the day to keep things going.

It’s all part of building a culture where safety isn’t a checkbox—it’s just how we do things. Stay tuned for a behind-the-scenes look at Safety Day.

Safety Week starts now.

This time of year is a chance to reset, refocus, and reinforce the standards that drive how we work every day.

That’s why this week, our teams are coming together for Safety Day to take time to learn, share, and stay sharp in the field.

At Hellman Electric, safety isn’t separate from the work - it’s part of how we plan, communicate, and execute. That’s what makes this week matter.

Follow along as we raise the bar and carry it forward.

Yesterday, at JFK’s TWA Hotel, field leadership from across the divisions came together for our annual Safety Conference.

Hosted by Electra USA, the event brought together supervision from Hellman Electric, Gilston Electric, PJ Mechanical, and F.W. Sims Mechanical for a day focused on one thing — raising the standard in the field.

From sharing best practices to reinforcing expectations, the conversations centered on what it takes to work safer and putting that into practice where it matters most.
