There are so many varieties of bromeliads that bring personality to the indoor plantscapes we build. One standout is Vriesea hieroglyphica, shown here, often called the “King of Bromeliads.” Its name derives from the dramatic dark banding across its leaves, resembling ancient hieroglyphics. In reality, its compelling pattern is an evolutionary trait serving as natural camouflage in dappled shade.
