$750 for drywall work, and now I'm left wondering if I hired a contractor or someone learning on the job.

The installer was polite and eager to start quickly, but the finished product has us questioning the workmanship. Missing corner bead, no corner tape, uneven seams, large gaps around plumbing, and multiple unnecessary drywall joints throughout the project.

When we raised our concerns, we were told that achieving a smoother, more professional finish would require a change order because it wasn't part of the original expectations.

Am I expecting too much, or does this look like subpar drywall work? Looking for honest opinions from contractors and homeowners alike.

🏠 New countertops installed… deeper sink added… and the drain position had to be altered to make everything line up properly. 😅🔧

At first glance it looks like a simple upgrade, but once you get into the details, even small changes like sink depth can completely shift plumbing alignment, trap position, and how the drain connects underneath. 🤔

It’s one of those jobs where everything seems straightforward on the surface, but the real adjustments happen out of sight where precision actually matters most. 💭

The difference between “it fits” and “it works long-term without issues” is usually hidden in those small modifications nobody notices after the countertop goes in. 🏠

So when you see a kitchen upgrade like this, do you focus more on the finished look or the work that had to change behind the scenes? 👀

4-Step DIY Water Filtration System

This image illustrates a multi-stage, gravity-fed water purification system designed to filter raw water through sequential physical and biological layers. By utilizing readily available materials like gravel, sand, and charcoal, the setup provides a practical, low-cost solution for treating water in decentralized or off-grid environments. The graphic pairs a clear schematic diagram with a real-world implementation using blue plastic barrels to demonstrate how the concept is constructed in practice.

System Components

Upflow Gravel Filter: The initial stage where water enters from the bottom, passing upward through coarse stones and gravel to trap heavy sediments and large suspended particles.

Bio-Sand Filter: The second stage where water flows downward through a fine sand layer, which physically traps smaller particles and fosters a biological layer (schmutzdecke) to neutralize pathogens.

Char Filter: The third stage featuring a bed of charcoal or activated carbon that adsorbs chemical impurities, removes odors, and improves the taste of the water.

Clean Water Storage: The final stage consisting of a holding tank or barrel that collects the fully treated, clear water, ready for extraction via a lower outlet valve.

Final Insight

The four-step configuration highlights an effective progression from coarse physical separation to fine biological and chemical filtration. By utilizing interconnected barrels and simple plumbing, the system provides a reliable, scalable method for purifying water without relying on electricity or complex machinery.

Middle jumper not warm?
New to me house. 2 hot water heater that have a connection in blue between them. Tank on right has blue hose in and tank on left has red hose out. When someone is using a shower and hot water is being drawn from the system, the center connecting tube stays cold. Am I missing something or shouldn’t this warm as water gets drawn from one tank to the other?
Thanks for the help on this.
