Our little girl Loretta passed away last night. We adopted her from almost two years ago. She was an older girl coming from a pretty stressful hoarder situation in Tennessee. So much transformation happened over this short time, and she was just starting to learn how to “dog” - wagging tails, cuddles, belly rubs, lots of treats, hanging out on the couch, meeting new friends. She was a sweet, sensitive, curious girl who would give me a kiss every day when I came home from work. It doesn’t seem fair, but what is. Her suffering is over now (she had lung cancer). I’m grateful for our pre-Labor Day closure which gave me time to be with her every day. She was a garden dog: she loved to sun herself in the dirt and eat cherry tomatoes off the vine.
