Installing commercial cameras in a New York City building is genuinely a different job than anywhere else. A few reasons:

→ Pre-war concrete and masonry walls block wireless signals completely. Hardwired PoE cabling is the only reliable option — and running it through concrete takes significantly more labor than a standard commercial buildout.

→ NYC DOB codes require metal EMT conduit in many commercial and multi-tenant spaces. That's not optional — it's a compliance requirement.

→ Co-op boards, condo associations, and landmark districts add approval steps that out-of-town contractors don't know how to navigate.

→ Outdoor hardware in NYC needs to be rated for vandal-proof impact (IK10) and full weatherproofing (IP67). Consumer-grade cameras deteriorate fast in this environment.

Once you understand those factors, the price range makes sense:
