When is les’s more? I am in no way a minimalist. But I have learned to feel when less is more and, what creates visual impact in a home. This is a prime example of the power of scale in art. This stillness and saturation of color in this painting by Theo Pinto is the impact in the space. It adds a quiet sense of drama without being overwhelming. Backing this up are the details. Small details that are noticed as the room unfolds. The deep channeling on the banquette. The ribbon and nail detail on the dining chairs. The handmade bronze scones. The artisan vessel which holds the monochromatic florals designed by wonderfully talented folks Passeio All which work together to create visual harmony.

What inspires me?
I am very often asked who and what I am inspired by. The truth is that we are surrounded by inspiration. I have developed a habit of innately scanning wherever I may be. While developing the design aspects of a a home I am subconsciously scouting details wherever I may be. I find this to be especially true when I travel. Several weeks ago I visited Malta and the new Casa Bonavita hotel. I was awestruck from the moment I walked in. Originally a built as an 18th century palazzo. Now refurbished as a seventeen room luxury hotel. The luxury at Casa Bonavita is that you feel as though you are staying a an incredibly chic friend’s home. That friendship extends itself from the decor to everyone you encounter during your stay. We were fortunate to randomly meet the founders of the hotel Suzanne & Christopher Sharp who were as charming and charismatic as Casa Bonavita. During my next visit there I plan on staying in the Folly which is a freestanding building and private compound on the property.

Buy what you like and make it work!
Search for memorable finds when traveling. Those pieces will prompt memories of the journey. When you encounter art that moves you whether it be on the street, a flea market, auction or galley. Buy it will bring joy each time you walk by it. When you see a great chair, lamp, accent table, etc. that moves you but wasn’t exactly what you had envisioned for your home, purchase it. Buy pieces that catch your eye. Pieces that bring joy, invoke memories, bring a smile or a tale about the journey. Buy it and make it work. These are the things that make a house your home.

Some restorations aren't about updating a space. They're about honoring it.

This one was a restoration of a classic Choey Lee yacht, and the goal from day one was simple: bring the original feel/architecture back to life, while updating the furnishings. etc.

Yacht interiors are a different discipline entirely. Every material has to earn its place — it needs to withstand humidity, salt air, constant motion, weight restrictions and decades of use, while still feeling warm enough to live in. Teak has been the gold standard in yacht joinery for a reason: it's naturally water-resistant, it doesn't warp easily, and it only gets more beautiful with age when it's cared for properly.

We took the teak throughout this yacht down to the original wood — stripping away years of old finish — and refinished it by hand to bring back its natural grain and warmth. Paired it with a classic blue and white palette on the textiles and upholstery, a color that's practically synonymous with the sea and with timeless yacht style for a reason — it never dates.

The result isn't trendy. It's not meant to be. It's decor that will look just as right in twenty years as it does today — which, to me, is the whole point of good design.

There's something special about restoring a vessel with this much history rather than starting from scratch. You're not just designing a space — you're preserving a story.

Luxury isn't a price tag. It's a feeling.....

For some, it's a quiet reading nook flooded with morning light. For others, it's a bar cart always stocked for spontaneous friends, or a closet organized down to the hanger. Luxury means something different to everyone — which is exactly why it can't be bought off a showroom floor.

My job isn't to hand you someone else's idea of "beautiful." It's to get curious about you — how you actually live, what you reach for at the end of a long day, what makes a house feel like yours and no one else's.

That curiosity is the real design process: collecting the details, clarifying what matters, and editing out what doesn't — until what's left is a space where you're completely comfortable doing the things you love.

That's the difference between a house that photographs well and a home that feels like you.

Start your home design with a goal in mind and stick to it….

When we took in this space, it was literally a blank slate. Working with the master architect , we dreamed of creating a space that would initially make you feel transported. Followed by a sense of old-school luxury evolving into a multipurpose space you would never want to leave.

It's romantic while still carrying a sense of assertiveness.
The over-scaled plaster ceiling medallion sets the initial tone
for the classical yet updated details to follow. Rounded features such as the curve of the sofa, cocktail table, dining table, etc create soft silhouettes. A furniture plan that allows you to relax, write, work from home, dine, and entertain. The soft, inviting palette sets the tone for a relaxed environment and brings the Parisian feel of the space full circle.

What Does It Take To Turn A White Box Into A Luxury Home?

People often ask what design looks like behind the scenes. This is gentle insight into a blank slate that will become a truly unique and customized home for a lovely family.

Before a single wall goes up, we are at the table with the team (which almost always includes the architectural team, general contractor, lighting designer, landscape designer, a multitude of technicians, skilled artisans, installers, etc., etc.

That’s just a brief synopsis of the general team— reviewing every measurement and detail. Home design begins with the work you put in, often years before a single nail goes into the wall.

We will keep you updated on the progression of this home in real time so that you can experience the joy and pain that goes into making a house a home.

It's the little moments that make a room, not just the big ones.

A backlit bar cabinet stocked and styled for when you're ready to host, a bookshelf layered with color, texture, and details that draw you in to pick up a book and sit with it for a while

It's about carefully crafted moments that make a space feel lived in and layered.
