We designed this entry around a central rotunda that organizes the spaces beyond. Doorways and views radiate from a central point, creating clear connections to the surrounding rooms while giving the entry its own definition within the house.

This library was designed as a contemplative retreat within the home. We custom-designed the desk for the room, which the owner, a contractor we’ve worked with over the years, built himself. Warm wood paneling wraps the entire room, while a generous window at the desk keeps the interior connected to the changing light of the city outside.

Late summer afternoons call for a little more time outside, especially when the harbor is the view. This stone terrace steps down to a negative-edge pool, where the water seems to spill into the view beyond, keeping the season’s last light in focus.

Natural light is a precious resource in New York apartments. When our client acquired the penthouse above their current home, the combination allowed for some incredible moments, including a new skylight in this paneled sitting room.

In this new Library addition to a waterfront 1920's Georgian house, the harmonious interplay of volume, material, and light makes for a room that is an experience in itself. Circular in plan, the anigre-paneled room is anchored at each corner by skylit book niches. The ribbed, lacquered dome is crowned by a monitor. And a series of pilasters encircle the sitting area.
