A small experiment in refraction, reflection, and the unexpected ways materials transform light.

Same light source. Different surfaces. Entirely different experiences.

A study in texture, color, and light.

At extreme cashmere’s Mercer Street store, soft, diffused light meets bold yellow interiors. Sculptural pendants bring a sense of softness to the space, while carefully aimed track lighting highlights the collection without competing with the architecture.

Sometimes we get hired to light extraordinary works of art in private homes.

This time, Richard Diebenkorn’s Berkeley #17 (1954).

As we worked on the lighting, we couldn’t help wondering: what color was the sky in Berkeley in 1954?

Heʻe Nalu — Hawaiian for “wave sliding,” the art of surfing.

By day, mirrored columns dissolve into reflections of sky, clouds, and trees. After dark, the installation transforms into an ocean of blues and oranges, with coastal sounds moving through the space like passing waves.

An immersive exploration of light, sound, and the changing landscape.

Keep the ceiling dark. Put the light in the millwork.
Thin warm lines under the shelf, inside the glass cabinets, and one suspended over the counter. The black stone catches the reflections, the wood slats stay in shadow, and daylight does the rest.

Coffee at ten, drinks at six. Same light.

111 Wall St Lobby
One blue panel. Everything else holds back.

Warm light grazes the fluted wood. A soft wash across the pale panels. A ceiling with almost nothing in it. Then, above the elevator, a single blue surface fades as it falls.

You know where to go before you read a sign.

Walk slowly. Here, the wall does the lighting.

No fixtures in view, no beams. Just openings, and a surface that becomes the light source. Pass close enough and each one takes its turn with you.

Experiments for a new art project.
Cast glass, raking light. Color doesn’t stay inside the block. It travels into the next one.

Expanded metal, lit from one edge at a grazing angle.

A flat sheet, until the light comes in low enough to find every fold.
