Hopefully you saw us in AD Pro! If not, take a look at our restoration of Zuber’s Les Zones Terrestres for the Mellon family. This pastoral Swiss scene, centered on grazing cattle, was missing a large section of artwork at the center of the composition.

After mounting the panel on boards, it was carefully stabilized and restored. Our artist reconstructed the missing imagery and matched more than 50 colors in this section alone to bring the scene back to life.

Swipe to see the before and after.

More images and info about the project are on our website, with additional coverage in AD Pro - links in Bio.

The same Zuber wallpaper Jacqueline Kennedy installed in the White House Diplomatic Reception Room is now on view at The Shed in New York.

Les Vues d’Amérique du Nord / Views of North America — one of the most iconic panoramic wallpapers ever created — has long symbolized the artistic and cultural relationship between France and the United States.

Maison Pierre Frey, owners of Zuber & Cie, selected the paper for the exhibition Hidden Treasures: 250 Years of Franco-American Luxury Stories at The Shed.

Scenic Wallpaper was proud to fabricate and install these museum exhibition panels originally for the SFO Museum exhibition Zuber: The Art of French Scenic Wallpaper, and we are thrilled to see them exhibited once again in New York.

If you love French decorative arts, historic interiors, panoramic wallpapers, or design history — don’t miss this exhibition.

Installed by Scenic Wallpaper on Park Avenue, “Symphony” by was first featured at the San Francisco Decorator Showcase.

Geometric forms and layered tones create a bold, large-scale pattern influenced by Art Deco and mid-century design. The background combines painted paper with a sheer organza overlay, finished with sections of aluminium leaf.

“Jardinières & Citrus Trees” by , installed by Scenic Wallpaper for

Fruit trees intermingle with flowering branches and bonsai set in porcelain jardinières, creating a layered garden scene across the dining room. Originally based on antique panels, the design carries through traditional symbolism, with elements like the peach tree representing longevity.

Before and After - Restoration of Zuber’s Les Vues de Suisse at Greenwood Gardens.

Fading skies, flaking paint, cracks, and water damage had broken up the scene over time. One section beneath a window had also pulled away and required careful conservation and reintegration.

You can't go wrong with a glamorous powder room! A metallic silver ground that shifts with the light sets the backdrop for this “Portobello,” installed here by Scenic Wallpaper.

Hand-painted chinoiserie motifs of birds, florals, and branches bring movement across the surface.

Whistler’s Peacock Room, originally designed by artist James McNeill Whistler between 1876–1877 for a London townhouse, is now preserved in the Freer Gallery of Art at the Smithsonian.

This custom wallcovering by is an interpretation of that mural, hand-painted on silk with gilded silver, depicting sparring peacocks and scattered coins and maintaining the drama and decorative style of the original Anglo-Japanese interior.

Scenic Wallpaper installed this piece in a private residence, bringing a historic interior into a contemporary space.

Zuber’s Les Vues de Suisse, restored by Scenic Wallpaper at Greenwood Gardens, a historic estate and public garden in Short Hills, New Jersey.

Installed in the mid-20th century, the panoramic lines the entry stair and walls, depicting a continuous sequence of Alpine landscapes. Over time, the paper had faded and deteriorated - cracks in the plaster, flaking paint, and water damage breaking up the scene.

We cleaned and stabilized the surface, repaired damaged areas, and repainted the sky to bring back its original tone and continuity, while staying true to the character of the paper.

With the restoration complete, the scene comes back together.

Earth Day is often focused on new approaches to sustainability, but in our work, sustainability is something quieter - preservation.

Restoring rather than replacing allows historic work like this Zuber "Les Zones Terrestres" to continue its life in new spaces, with its history intact.

Depicting imagined landscapes and terrestrial worlds, the design itself is rooted in observation of the natural world, and its preservation carries that vision forward through time.
