A busy week in Manhattan and grateful to spend a few precious hours with one of my best friends and loved finally spending quality time with šŸ“ø. LIfe is long and I’m blessed to have Susanna as my friend and confidant. I cannot imagine life without her. Also, a few years ago she opened Window Shop which is an amazing spot in Houston—you must look! šŸ‘€ 34 years of friendship. Some come and go in our lives and some are forever. ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø

I ā¤ļø Manhattan. 1 Sutton Place, 1926-1927, Rosario Candela and Cross & Cross. The meticulously landscaped garden pictured was originally built over a deck covering the FDR Drive in 1939. It was historically at the center of a long-standing property dispute between the building’s residents and the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation over whether it should be a private or public space. The building originally featured a triple-arched porte-cochĆØre and a private dock for yachts on the East River. One of my favourite buildings and I wish it were closer to Central Park šŸ˜‰

On Saturday, I spent the day with tooting around the CĆ“te d’Azur and I have a much better handle on the area now. I wanted to revisit again (some images are from 2021 with Elizabeth and Camille). This home (and family) built by Theodore Reinach has an interesting history and set of connections to other great families and homes in France. It is harĀmoĀny and eleĀgance, the intelĀliĀgent fulĀfillĀment of the ensemble’s conĀcepĀtion in the treatĀment of every detail, every door, every lamp, as a work of art that makes up a largĀer creĀative piece. KĆ©ryĀlos is not a Greek an imiĀtaĀtion of a house from antiqĀuiĀty; it’s a brilĀliant reinĀvenĀtion. ThĆ©odore Reinach was a wealthy and cultivated man and while countless visit this work of art, few seem to know the background story and it’s not an obvious while touring. Reinach selected as architect Emmanuel Pontremoli, who drawing on his travels in Asia Minor designed a reconstruction of the Greek noble houses built on the island of Delos in the 2nd century B.C. and laid out the building around an open peristyle courtyard. Interior decoration was overseen by Gustave Louis Jaulmes and Adrien Karbowsky. Stucco bas-reliefs were created by sculptor Paul Jean-Bapiste Gascq. Reinach was married to F***y Kann, an Ephrussi/de Rothschild, if you’ve been to the area you may have toured the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild who came to the area bc of the Reinachs. Upon his death in 1928, Reinach bequeathed the property to the Institut de France, of which he had been a member. His children and grandchildren continued to live there until 1967. The other connection is to the Musee di Nissim Camondo in Paris. This house, built by Moise Camondo, and left to his son Nissim. Nissim had a sister, Beatrice who married Leon Reinach, son of Theodore. In the end, the Comondos were murdered by N***s as well as Leon, Beatrice and their children in Auschwitz. Both homes are now museums as they were all bequeathed to the state of France. If you’ve not read or listened to Letters to Camondo by please do. He was related to the families and reveals the history in his book.

Well folks, it’s been a long time since I posted and probably 10 people will see it. I’ve been šŸ¤’ on and off for two+ weeks. First covid and then I woke up yesterday with a cold—angry doesn’t do this justice! I am sitting in bed on the most beautiful day and wishing I were out on a long walk or anywhere but here. I’m about to take a two week much deserved vacation so maybe it’s good I’m getting this out of the way. Back to not posting—do you ever think has perhaps become the most boring place? Politics, same images over and over, nothing new and when there is something new it’s posted immediately 1000 times. I opened to see what I had that might even be interesting. Bahamas! šŸ‡§šŸ‡ø is there this weekend, and I am jealous! Here is some of the most idyllic spots by .design and I am pretty sure it’s with who knows island design like no one else. Who doesn’t want to be there right now?

I’m going to Milan for Salone, Milan Design Week, etc. Are you? This is part of my new life where work ceases being in the way of places I want to go. It seems easy enough, but I’ve literally been in therapy to force myself in a different direction. I’ve not booked a hotel but need to…I’m flying into Zurich bc I’ve never been and I couldn’t get a flat seat on a flight to Milan šŸ˜‰ I’m thinking of renting a car and driving to Milan but maybe that’s absurd. Leave it to me to make life complicated. Where should I stay? After that I’m going to Paris and the South of France and then who knows what or where. I’m on a mission.

I look forward to having the images from the photographers so I can post more but whoah..what a crazy beautiful fun week. By 5PM on Thursday evening—Chief was cleared out. 900 people attended Legends 😳 this year. Yesterday was a total crash and burn for me. I had all these ideas of what I was going to do on my free day, I finally went down to BH, lost and then found my keys and realized it wasn’t safe for me to be stumbling around. I got back to our little house, laid down on the sofa and was out like a light. That says a lot for a person who cannot nap. Thank you to everyone who believes and supports our little team. We believe in you too.. taking off for Manhattan and very sad to leave LA for the moment. Next stop Paris, Milan and southern Spain..

As I gear up to head to city of stars later this week with sunny skies, cool nights and warm days—I’m dreaming of May in Manhattan when the trees are green and a carefree social scene hits the streets. I love you NY.

Some houses are beautiful.
Some houses have soul.
This one has both. ✨

If you join me in LA March 2-5 .losangeles you’ll learn more about how it all happened. Currently featured in the March issue of ELLE Decor, this extraordinary home brings together the best of the best—architecture by Mike Gilmore, interiors by Mark Cunningham, and landscapes by the legendary Art Luna—with Mark and Mike having deep roots in the world of Ralph Lauren.

The images are stunning, but they can’t quite capture what it feels like to be here—the warmth, the rhythm, the spirit of the place. Every room invites you in. Every view reminds you you’re in Los Angeles, with vistas stretching endlessly in almost every direction. This house embodies all I believe is best about our industry. Only the most talented designers along with great owners can make a vibe like this.

I want everything in this house. I would happily call it my own. But I’m lucky enough that it belongs to dear friends, which means I get to spend time here—and even stay here sometimes—and that feels like the greatest privilege of all. šŸ¤

A truly special home, created with heart, friendship, and rich talent.
