These are the FX-1 Slim Work Jeans.

I stopped wearing jeans at work a while ago because most don’t have enough stretch for me to pop a squat as elegantly as this. But these bad boys are STRETCHY.

Duplex Nailer💪 Yay or Nay?
It’s great for formwork that needs to be stripped, but the nails can cost 3x or more than regular stick nails.
Do you think the extra cost is worth paying to save the time/effort while stripping forms?
Also this video is mainly just proof for that I do in fact have the M18 and sometimes decide to use it

Meet the LEVEL-R from Fab-Form.
Joey and team at sent me their LEVEL-Rs to try out. I am VERY impressed by how effective these are.
We build a ton of large townhome footings out of 2x10. They get pretty heavy in some sections where I nail up multiple intersecting boards. Lifting and staking these footings is a tough job even with two people.
With the LEVEL-Rs, I was able to save my back the strain of being bent over and lifting. I used one anywhere that I was straining while lifting this 3-plex footing.
Yes, I’m faster at lifting by hand, but I’m usually sore after a big footing like this one. The difference in how I felt this time is unbelievable!
While I don’t like doing things “the long way”, a few extra minutes here and there to help keep my body healthy is more than a fair exchange.
Thanks again, Joey. We’ll definitely be using these moving forward. Can’t wait to see what else you guys come up with in the future!

Favourite project this year: Walls to Nowhere

Last minute call from the builder to get these done ASAP. There wasn’t a lot of time to work with, so the best way to be as productive as possible onsite was to design everything beforehand.

- 2D linework in AutoCAD LT
- 3D modelling (footings, walls, form panels) in BricsCAD
- Layout was done with a combination between Leica iCON GPS and Robotic Total Station.

This project won a CFA Project of the Year award in the Non-Foundation Structural Element category. I’m very thankful - what a fun thing to get a fancy plaque for.

Tired of the Packouts falling over.

While researching options to mount my Packouts, I came across a local company in Vancouver that makes these PackRack mounts which are CNC Plasma cut from 1/8” 5052 aluminum.

They’re low profile (only 3/4” high) and don’t stick out past the Packout boxes like the Milwaukee plastic ones. The PackRacks were easy to line up where I wanted them, and I only needed to drill 4-5 holes for each one. All of this was super helpful due to the drill location limitations with my Goose Gear Seat Delete.

I have no affiliation with any of these companies, and this post isn’t sponsored in any way. I happily paid full price for these. Just sharing a cool solution from a local dude.
