We love this photo of Brendan and his family for many reasons.

We are very selective about the clients we take because our process is intimate and deeply collaborative. It requires getting to know a family beyond square footage and finishes. The first day Brendan walked into our office, the conversation quickly shifted from architecture to principles and values. After this discussion we know whether someone is a fit or not. Our clients become family by the end, so alignment at the beginning matters. With Brendan, we felt that alignment immediately.

Up to this very point life happened. His family grew. The project needed to pause. We had to change change General contractors because of timing… Through all of it, we stayed grounded in our intentional process. The same process we never budge on. Brendan will tell you himself. He can be very indecisive and prone to wild impulses sometimes. We admire his tenacity, but we always stay professional, steady, and committed to due process.

We truly love what we do and that is never misunderstood. Design is alive. Priorities evolve, taste changes, and unexpected site conditions show up uninvited. Brendan consistently makes decisions that are centered around his family, and we value that deeply. We believe in building the vision all the way to the end. It’s one of the reasons we stay with our projects through construction.

If Brendan hadn’t been the right fit, we would have walked away or recommended someone else. Even when he drives us a little crazy, our values are always aligned.

Before we accept any client, we ask ourselves two questions

Do we share values?
Can we communicate honestly?

With Brendan, the answer was yes.

Foundation done! let’s build this dream

FYI he called us yesterday to tell us we are changing the design on the exterior lol. Let’s see where this goes.

Art, music, and green public spaces are essential to Newark’s cultural identity and its ongoing development. From vibrant murals to immersive installations, local artists are infusing the city’s streets with color, imagination, and meaning. These creative expressions do more than beautify. They spark dialogue, foster connection, and invite residents to see their city through a new lens.

The PSE&G Central Avenue Substation stands as a beacon in Newark’s West Ward symbolizing a commitment to thoughtful planning and inclusive design. As Newark grows, the substation will support essential services while blending seamlessly into the neighborhood’s evolving landscape.

Its two buildings, one reminiscent of a school, the other echoing a residential building, are designed to harmonize with the surrounding community. Encircling them, a perimeter wall serves as an outdoor gallery, celebrating art and turning utility into inspiration.

Built with safety, resilience, and community at its core, the substation embodies Newark’s heritage and its vision for a brighter, more connected future.

Bringing multi-family housing to Newark’s residential neighborhoods requires a thoughtful approach—balancing density, modernity, and respect for the local character. 74 Maury does just that, integrating green space and architectural integrity to complement the community. Excited to see this vision come to life!

The home was designed for compact living using local materials and construction techniques, in a climate that sees harsh sunlight during dry seasons. The ground floor spaces are assembled on both sides of a “gallery” that separates public spaces from private spaces. The gallery is filled with things representative of the client’s personality and hobbies. The second floor spaces are a floating oasis with a private office linked to a roof garden, and a primary suite that overlooks the beauty of the surrounding nature through large north facing windows and patio doors. The double height living spaces below separates the public spaces from the private spaces above.

Re-imagination of a suburban house combining traditional vernacular with a few contemporary minimalist details, bridging what we are familiar with, with something new.

An abundance of natural light mixed with dark tones always creates a striking home. 😉😎
